“Good morning,” the man said while the woman just smiled at us. Their children weren’t concerned about greeting anybody, though. They just wanted the seashells.

“I’m Zac Buchanan and this is my girlfriend, Stevie Sinclair,” he said, reaching out to shake the man’s hand.

“Nice to meet you, Zac and Stevie. I’m Sam Hunter and this is my wife, London.”

All four of us took turns shaking each other’s hand, then London told us the names of her and Sam’s children. They were Lilly and Skylar.

“They’re so adorable,” I said, glancing over at them still looking at the treasures in the sand.

“Thank you.”

“They look to be the same age.”

“They’re twins.”

“Oh my goodness! How old are they?”

“Four.”

“It’s so cute how Skylar looks like you, London, and Lilly looks like you, Sam.”

“We think so too,” Sam said, smiling at London.

It was easy to see how in love they were and also how happy. They were the perfect little family.

“Are you on vacation?” Zac asked them.

“Yes, and also spending some time with my grandparents. As a matter of fact, that’s their beach house,” Sam said, pointing at it behind him.

“This is a vacation for us too. It’s nice coming here this time of year when the beach isn’t so crowded.”

“That’s exactly why we’re here now. Where are you two from?”

“Stevie is originally from Austin, Texas, and moved to Dallas a few months ago. That’s where I’m from.”

“And how nice it is to meet some of my people,” London said. “I’m originally from Houston.”

“I wondered if you were from Texas because of your accent,” I said.

“Oh, I know. Sam still teases me about my drawl.” London cut her eyes at him and winked. “He’s from Colorado. That’s where I call home now.”

“Which part of Colorado?” I asked, turning my attention to him.

“Aspen Heights. It’s a small town about forty-five minutes west of Denver.”

“I hope neither of you mind me asking, but how did you meet, being from different states?”

“I went to Aspen Heights for a work vacation and on my second day there, Sam and I met at the one and only grocery store in town,” London said. “As a matter of fact, he saved me from dropping all the groceries I was holding. I didn’t bother toget a basket or a buggy before I went shopping because I didn’t plan on getting that much stuff, but I was hungry.”

“I have done that so many times and have had to walk back up to the front of the store to grab a basket. You’d think I would learn my lesson.”

We all laughed and then London asked Zac and me how we’d met.

“We first saw each other at a running trail but we didn’t talk then. We did a lot of staring, though. Then a mutual friend of ours introduced us a week later when we all happened to meet up at the same bar after work,” Zac said.

“And everything blossomed very quickly after that,” I added.

Sam shook his head. “Yeah, it was the same way for London and me. You know when they’re the one. There is no mistaking it.”
