He slowed and loosened her clothing, sending it to the floor in a whoosh. When she was naked, he knelt in front of her, his head even with her shoulder.

“All this just to lock your knot?”

He smiled. “There is nothing like that feeling. It is the feeling that one day that process might put my child inside you.”

She glanced down at his erection. It looked normal, aside from the knot. “Are you a weird kind of alpha?”

He chuckled. “That would be telling.”

“How long until I know?”

“Three, maybe four years.”

“What is your family like?”

“Betas, middle class. They own a small accounting company and have a loyal clientele.”

“Were they surprised you were an alpha?”

He smiled. “I don’t think they know yet.”

“You haven’t told them?”

“No. They have been warning me about women like you being very expensive. I will wait before I tell them you are my favourite option for my life savings.”

She frowned at him and ran her fingers through his hair. “I don’t think I am that demanding. I mean, the guys have bought clothes for me, but they are just things they like. I haven’t asked for anything.”

He smiled. “I know. I was surprised that none of the partygoers yesterday had gifts. That was very odd.”

She frowned. “I guess there are my medical checks. I could use my savings for that.”

Taio’s eyes widened. “That isn’t what I meant. You are fine. I was just talking about my family.”

“I know, but I feel like I am not pulling my weight.”

“You definitely are. Everybody has noticed a change in their work focuses for the better.” He wrapped his arms around her and lifted her before settling her on her back.

She put her hand on his chest. “I am going to throw up.”

Olly scrambled to the bathroom and lost her breakfast. Hands held her hair, and a cold compress was put on the back of her neck.

Feng murmured, “The baby?”

“Dealing with Molly. I have wanted to strangle her with my bare hands for a decade, and that much rage doesn’t just fade with a few sentences. I still want to hurt her physically.”

Taio helped her up, and she brushed her teeth.

Taio and Feng cuddled her after she got a blast of cooling fire.

She fell asleep pressing her head to Feng and holding Taio’s hand. Sucked for them. They were stuck. She smiled.

Six weeks later, she was seated at the head of the banquet hall with Feng next to her. Benjiro was wearing formal kimono on her left, and Taio was wearing a dark red on Feng’s right. The rituals before the wedding had been fun. Polly and Minoru took the place of her parents for the tea ceremony. Feng’s parents and Lady Fen had been his side. That tea ceremony had been more important than the marriage certificate. Lady Fen had teared up.

They had made peace when Fen had come to Benjiro’s and had presented Olly with bridal presents. She stopped trying to make her a beta trying to be an omega and simply accepted her as Feng’s choice. To Olly’s shock, they had hugged it out.

After the final announcement, Feng helped her to her feet and lifted the red veil that obscured her face. “There you are, pretty one.”

She tilted her head. “Husband.”
