“Averygood thing.”
Leaning forward, I rest my lips against his. “Want to get out of here?”
“Absolutely. I do have food, though.”
“I don't care. Do you?” My curls bounce around my face as I shake my head. Food is the furthest thing from my mind right now. We can eat later.
“Nope.”
We practically jump off the chair and quickly close up anything that needs to be handled still, which is mostly just shoving some papers in the desk, blowing out the candles and locking the door. After telling Sam to have a good night and lock up, we all but run to the car.
Once inside our three-row Acura SUV, Lochlyn takes my face between his hands and pulls my mouth to his. Home is thankfully only ten minutes from the cafe, and we make it in seven.
“It’s so quiet?” It’s the first thing I notice. I don’t think we’ve had a quiet house in seven years. Ophelia was a colicky baby. We’re lucky we even had more kids after her.
Wrapping his arms around my waist, he murmurs in my ear, “I bet we can fix that.”
Spinning me around, he lifts me up and throws me over his shoulder as I squeal. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that we’re still young, as far as all things are considered.
My hysterical laughter fills the otherwise silent house as he runs up the stairs and I knock against him.
Once we get to our room, he tosses me down on the bed, where I bounce a few times, hands drawn into my chest as I laugh. The smile that graces Lochlyn’s face still lights my soul on fire.
Infuriatingly slow, he works his way up my body to hover over me, dragging his erection along my clit. It’s been far too long since we’ve been able to take our time and make as much noise as we want. I’m sure that’s going to be his primary focus tonight.
It doesn’t matter what his goal is. Having this time alone with Lochlyn is priceless right now. I love our children, our family, but sometimes it’s important to remember who we are and the couple we are.
We forgot that once, a long time ago. We lost track of our relationship and the priority that it is and should be. While we put our kids first, and both agree that’s the best way for our family, we need to remind ourselves of who we are as a team, as a couple, because it all started when he kissed me. None of this would exist if that night had never happened.
Even to this day, every Thanksgiving, Lochlyn takes me out to the deck and kisses me under the stars. Even if it’s raining, even if it’s snowing. He’ll take me outside and kiss me.
The holiday is only a few days away, and I can’t wait for my anniversary kiss from the man who continuously shows me that there are no limits to what our love can do.
