Bahram slid onto the barstool next to Rhun and raised his brows. “Are we expressing male affection by fond insults again?”

“Fuck you,” Tallak and Rhun said in unison.

Bahram grinned, then squinted at Rhun. “Why is your face all wet?”

Rhun smiled beatifically. “I had an unfortunate run-in with a sponge.”

“You’re too weird for this world.” Bahram shook his head. “Listen, so I’ve got this little party at my place tomorrow. Are you gonna be there?”

Rhun clucked his tongue. “Sorry, bud. I’ve got a beautiful eight-month-pregnant mate at home. Won’t be doing any all-nighters again anytime soon. Well, except for changing diapers and feeding the little one, of course.”

Bahram sighed. “Right, right.” His gaze swung to Tallak. “What about you? Wanna live it up a little? There’ll be lots of unmated females at my place.” The incubus’s grin was all cocky.

Tallak’s mood took a nosedive to the ground. “Not really in the market for anyone right now.” Because my heart’s set on a certain witch.

Bahram tilted his head. “Didn’t know you were with someone.”

Tallak ground his teeth together. “It’s complicated.”

Bahram looked from Rhun to Tallak and back again. “So you’re telling me each of my partying buddies is hooked on a female? Leaving me as the lone bachelor in this group?”

Rhun shrugged. “You could always go and get yourself mated, too, you know. Would make things easier on the whole trying-not-to-cuckold-other-demons endeavor, increasing your chances of actually living a long and happy life.”

Bahram shuddered. “No, thank you. The same female for the rest of my life? That’s a hard pass.”

“When you find the right one,” Rhun said with a smirk, “you’ll feel differently.”

Yep, Tallak thought. The prospect of being with Hazel, every day for the rest of his life, didn’t scare him one fucking bit. He looked forward to it, wanted to explore everything there was to know about her, and then once he knew her in and out, go on to explore new interesting shit together.

“Never gonna happen to me,” Bahram said.

“Oh, you just wait.” Rhun clapped his hand on the other demon’s back. “I am so looking forward to seeing you fall. I’ll be laughing all the way and cheerfully waving at you as you hit the ground hard.”

“Don’t hold your breath,” Bahram grumbled, then his gaze caught on a spot over Rhun’s shoulder, out in the crowd, and his eyes took on a predatory gleam.

Tallak followed the direction of Bahram’s look and spotted a female on the small dance floor, undulating to the slow music. Her brown skin warmed by the red overhead lights, her hair tumbling around her shoulders in loose, untamed curls, she smiled at Bahram.

Rhun raised his brows at his friend. “You checking out your next meal?”

The incubus nodded at the female, a sensual smile on his face. “Looks like I’m in the mood for brunettes tonight.”

Rhun turned and followed Bahram’s gaze, then abruptly whipped around again. “Dude, no. Not her. Anyone but her.”

Reaching out, he grabbed Bahram’s head and forcefully turned him toward the other direction, effectively breaking the eye-fucking between the incubus and the dancing female.

Bahram slapped Rhun’s hand away. “What the fuck, man?” Leaning around Rhun to glance at the female again, he asked, “What’s wrong with her? She got a mate?”

“Worse.” Rhun started arranging the peanuts by size.

Tallak glared at him. “You do know I can just throw out all these peanuts after you’ve been fondling them all night? And you don’t even eat them!”

Rhun rummaged in his pocket and slapped a ten-dollar bill on the bar top. “Here. Now quit your whining.”

“Rhun,” Bahram growled. “Why is this female off-limits?”

“Because,” Rhun said as he fixed the incubus with a meaningful look, “she’s Lucía de León. As in, the protégée and unofficially adopted daughter of Arawn.”

Bahram’s eyes widened, and he jerked his head back to stare straight ahead at the reconstructed shelves behind the bar. “Oh, fuck.”
