“What are you doing?”

“Putting you to bed.” I lift her into my arms, setting her on the bed before pulling the blankets over her. “I’ll be making some noise while I clean the bathroom and get the body out, but I’ll try to stay as quiet as I can.”

“What are you going to do with him?”

“Make it look like he was killed by someone other than you.”

She casts me a suspicious glance. “Do you know how to do that?”

“Done it before.”

Her jaw drops, but it snaps shut just as quickly. “Oh.”

Hell, I’ve even done it more than once.

I never thought I’d grow up to be a killer. But as of tonight, I’ve taken three lives.

The first was Alex and Brooke’s dad. The bastard deserved it after all the harm he caused his family. It was simple enough—drown him, stage a boating accident, fake an alibi. Between the four of us, we were able to nail down a solid enough plan that we got away scot-free.

The second was David’s partner, Tristan Goodwin. He attacked Alex, and if I hadn’t gotten there in time, who knows what he would’ve done. Now we’ll never know.

“You’re sure you’ve got it?” Jade asks.

“You’re not helping.”

At that, she sits up. “You don’t get to decide that. How am I supposed to know you’re capable of staging everything correctly? It’s my life on the line.”

“Are you telling me you know how to get away with this?”

She freezes. Then, clenching her fists, she says, “No.”

I don’t believe her, but I don’t push it.

“Just trust me. I’ve got this.”

Chapter fourteen

Jade

I’mnotsurehow, but I manage to fall into a light sleep while Dominic gets to work in the bathroom. It’s not until I hear a deep, masculine voice I don’t recognize that my eyes fly open.

“This is pretty rash for a neighbor, Dom.”

“Shut up.”

I sit up. There’s a man in a leather jacket standing in my bedroom. He’s a good couple inches taller than Dominic, although he’s lean where Dom is wide.

But that doesn’t matter.

No, what matters is that he’shere,in my bedroom, and I’m completely naked under my blankets.

“What the hell is going on?”

They both turn to look at me. The stranger smiles.

“Felix, this is Jade Brown. Jade, Felix Grayson.”

I have no idea why Dominic referred to me with Rosie’s last name instead of my own, but the thought barely registers. Alarm bells are going off in my head.Felix Grayson. I know that name. Where do I know that name? Is he...
