“You’re mine.” He claimed her rubbing the head of his cock against her damp entrance. “Not this Quinn character. Not someone else your family might choose. Mine.”

She lowered her lashes in an unconscious show of submission, his wolf was appeased but Clay needed more.

“Say it.” He punctuated the demand with a thrust of his hips. So that the crown of his penis just breached her flesh and her snug entrance stretched around him.

There was a flare of defiance in her eyes. A promise that she wouldn’t always defer to him, but in this case her desire won out.

“I’m yours.” The words tore from her throat as she canted her hips upwards. He thrust forward at the same time and they were fused as one and both let out a grunt of pleasure.

Clay ground his hips against her making sure he kept friction on her clit with each stroke knowing he wouldn't last long. He needed her to come with him. He wouldn’t accept anything less especially for their first time together, but he needed to push her over the edge soon or his good intentions would be for nothing.

He could feel her muscles tightening on him as he worked himself into her then retreated to repeat the motion again and again building the tension between them. It coiled tighter as his hips lost their steady rhythm.

Her hands were no longer at her sides where he’d placed them. She raked his back with her nails sending stinging trails of fire across his skin.

The soft flesh of her neck beckoned. She turned her head baring herself more completely.

“Do it.” She panted. “Hurry I’m almost there -” Jade strained towards him. Clay didn’t need to be told twice. His sharp incisors pierced her skin and she came in a hot rush as she bled for him.

He was about to pull back and encourage her to bite him as well but the bond between them snapped into place at least partially and he was able to communicate with her telepathically.

Bite me back. The words were gruff as his animal instincts raced to the forefront of his consciousness. The wolf wanted to make his claim on her too. It didn’t matter that she wasn’t a shifter.

He sensed her confusion but only for a moment before she sank her teeth into his flesh reopening the wound she had left on his chest during their previous tryst.

Her bite was dull because of her flat smooth teeth but it \triggered his release and he poured himself into her as both his human and animal side staked their claim.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

“I think we should ask some of my coven about the magic I sensed.” She wasn’t thrilled about the idea since it would expose her as a practicing witch, and she would have to face the consequences for her years of deception. To say the coven would not be pleased was an understatement. There would be members who would demand retribution. She just wasn’t sure how harshly they would judge her.

With the bond solidified she wouldn’t be able to shield her abilities any longer. Or at least not until she learned to deal with the new aspect of her psyche that it created.

Bonding with him left a metaphysical link between them open. It was what allowed them to feel what the other was feeling and to communicate telepathically. It would be like a beacon to the coven. The thought had her frowning. Jade had never understood how her coven had been able to pick out the shifters before there had just been a flare in their aura that identified them as otherworldly.

Now that she was on the other side of the power she understood that it was the leakage that they had been able to sense and if the coven could sense her magic through the leak they might be able to siphon off her even without a meld to Quinn.

The thought made bile rise in her throat and a distressed noise escaped before she could prevent it.

Jade had witnessed a siphoning only once before, and she’d come away from the experience believing it was cruel and brutal. It had been the deciding factor for hiding her abilities.

“We can find another way.”

“It might be the only way to help you figure things out.”

“It doesn’t matter I won’t put you at risk.” He held up a hand when she would have protested. “You’re upset about the idea of asking your coven for help. I may not understand why but I can feel how worried and afraid you are.”

“They are going to know anyway.” Jade quickly explained how the link would expose her magic.

“These customs of yours seem great.” The sarcasm in his tone was unmistakable. It had her grinning despite the serious nature of their conversation.

“I’m grateful that you would want to protect me but there are members of the coven I can trust. It will be ok.” She tried to reassure him, but she wasn’t certain what she’d said was the entire truth.

She might be able to confide in her cousin Christine they had been close growing up and she would likely accept Jade’s deception understanding the reasoning behind it. Her views were more modern than most of the women in the coven and aligned with Jade’s beliefs. Jade knew Christine was reluctant to sacrifice her magic to the man she would be expected to link with when the time came.

Her palms were sweating while they waited for Christine’s arrival later that night. She had prepared dinner for the three of them hoping that the food would help distract her cousin from Clay’s lycan side, though she knew she was deluding herself.
