“Squirrel is on his way with the van,” Zion said.

“I’m not waiting on Squirrel,” Demon said before he knocked the prospect out cold with one blow.

“Shit, D. Was that really necessary?” Zion said as he shook his head.

“We need to go. I’m not losing time waiting on our fuckin’ prospect to pick up a Strong Rider prospect. Squirrel better handle this shit on his own, or he can forget my vote.”

Zion took out tie wraps from his inner pocket and got to work while Demon took a picture of the text with directions to that cabin.

Zion pushed the unconscious prospect towards the kitchen counter, tying the prospect’s hands behind his back and around the marble pole of the kitchen counter.

“Squirrel will be here in ten,” Zion said.

“I don’t give a fuck. A lot can happen to Whirlwind in those ten minutes, brother.”

Zion inspected his handiwork one last time before he nodded. “You’re right.”

“Check this.” Demon held out his phone, showing Zion a map he’d searched online.

“This is the red farm we need to look out for. The cabin is somewhere behind that farm in the woods. We’re an hour away. Let’s go.”

“What if she’s not there, man? We’ll lose precious time riding up and down.”

Demon walked out of the house and stomped over to his ride. “The others haven’t found her, otherwise they would have told us. My gut tells me she’s in this fuckin’ cabin.”

“Okay. I trust your gut. It’s never wrong,” Zion mused before he climbed his hog.

“Damn straight. You texted Prez the directions, right?”

Zion gave him a thumbs up over the noise of their roaring engines. Demon slid on his glasses before he raced over the asphalt, not giving a shit about waking up the entire neighborhood at two in the morning.

With the wind in his hair and his single light illuminating the dark road ahead, he thought back to the night when he kissed Cat on the dirt ramp.

You should be scared, silly girl. You think you’re ready to enter our world, darkness will take over your soul.

He’d warned her three years ago, hoping he could scare her so she would give up on her little crush and turn her back on him and the club. But all this time, she’d held out hope. He’d recognized the longing in her eyes since it mirrored his own.

Evil had been biding its time, however, ready to snatch her soul.

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Cat bit her bottom lip, hoping it would stop the clattering of her teeth. Her muscles felt stiff as she tried to keep low in the water.

“She’s got to be here somewhere. The bitch can’t just disappear into thin air!”

She recognized the booming voice of Man Bun.

“Silas is going to kill us…” Ulf said.

“Shut the fuck up. We’ll find her,” Man Bun said.

“What if she’s not here for pickup?”

Cat strained her ears over the sound of the river. What did Ulf mean by pickup? Was she supposed to be picked up by Silas? Annas’ death clearly didn’t stop the Strong Riders from trafficking girls.

Since staying too long in the cold water would bring down her speed, strength and dexterity, she needed to get out of the water soon. If they would catch her now, she wouldn’t be able to fight them.

But if she would get out of the water now, she would risk drawing attention to her by rustling the surrounding river reed.
