“That’s not your call!” Mud shouted.

“Last time I checked, I’m still treasurer, so I get to vote,” Turtle said before he pulled a brow.

Annas slammed the gavel against the wooden tabletop. “Everyone quiet!”

“We’ll settle this once and for all. If you want Rick out, say ‘Aye’.”

Turtle, Zeus and Demon simultaneously said, “Aye.”

Tiny surprised everyone at the table by mumbling, “Aye.”

“What’s that?” Annas cocked his head since it was now four against three and Tiny never voted against Annas.

The club’s Secretary crossed his arms in front of his chest.

“You all know about Marie’s sister’s habit. It’s only a matter of time before Marie comes at me about taking in her three nieces. Can’t have punks like Rick running around them girls.”

“That’s four against three. Rick is out,” Annas declared before slamming the gavel.

“Fuckin’ pussies. Every single one of you!” Mud shouted before he stormed out.

Demon also stood, but Annas held up his hand. “One minute, Enforcer.”

Zeus passed Demon and gave his shoulder a fist bump. “I’ll see you in the ring.”

It didn’t take a mind reader to know that Demon would work out his frustration in the gym later. While most of his brothers fucked the sweetbutts to let off some steam, Demon fought. And tortured.

Sure, he fucked some sweetbutts a few times a week. But it didn’t satisfy that restless itch inside, since none of them could hold his interest for over fifteen minutes.

“Will you let me work on Rick?” Demon asked after Silas closed the door behind him, leaving Annas and Demon alone.

Annas snorted. “You already kicked Mud’s son out of the club and you still want to carve him up?”

Demon shrugged. It sounded like a good enough plan to him.

“Sounds personal to me. Is this about that young snatch?”

Demon squeezed his eyes into slits. Luckily, Annas’ late wife, Ophelia, didn’t have to hear her Old Man talk like this. Demon had been blessed to experience Ophelia’s motherly love for four years before she died of cancer.

The Greek way of life where everything revolves around family was a foreign concept for Demon. It took him some time to get used to Ophelia’s warmth and genuine interest in his feelings.

Sitting around a campfire at the river bend, learning Greek words from Annas was one of Demon’s first memories that didn’t involve pain.

Demon and Zeus had promised Ophelia on her deathbed that they would always protect their sisters, Amara and Demi, no matter the cost. Demon couldn’t believe that Annas wasn’t loyal to his family by letting a few bad seeds run the show.

“You have two daughters around Whirlwind’s age. You ain’t worried about their safety?”

Annas snorted. “Nobody ever dares to come near your sisters with you, Zeus, and me around.”

“Every girl should be safe here, Prez.” Demon purposely called him Prez.

The old Greek picked up on the sudden distance between them and said, “You need to tell me somethin’?”

Demon furrowed his brows. “Like what?”

“Are you still happy with your role in the club? Maybe you—”

“My role isn’t the issue. You, of all people, should know that this club is my life.”
