“Thank you for the amazing day today,” I said, softly kissing the side of her neck.

Arya sighed, as I continued to shower her neck with kisses.

“It's not done yet,” she sighed and smiled.

Then she turned to look at me seriously.

“I need to tell you something.”

Her eyes looked worried and a pit of concern formed in my stomach, but I tried to play it cool.

“You can tell me anything,” I said.

She paused, hesitant to speak. I cupped her cheek, trying to silently encourage her.

“There's never a good time to tell you this and I'm not exactly sure how to tell you, but…I’m pregnant,” she blurted out.

The world suddenly stopped. I saw nothing and heard nothing else. I was going to be a father again. Arya was going to have my child. I had been begging Regina to consider another child since Shiloh was two. And of course, my dreams had been over when we divorced.

“Arya,” I said, breathlessly. I pulled her in tight, speechless with joy. “Arya, I can’t believe it.”

She looked a little worried.

“That’s great news,” I blurted. “I’m…I'm just shocked. And speechless. But happy. Arya, I’m so happy.”

She smiled and her face lit up. No wonder she had been glowing. Her skin was almost flushed and now that I really looked, her breasts were much bigger. I thought it had been in my head, just a product of me missing her. But now I could see it clearly.

“I can't believe this,” I continued. “I want this baby. And I want you.”

I kissed her deeply.

“How far along are you?”

“About ten weeks,” she said.

Arya was still a little tense, and I knew exactly why. My mom.

“I want you to know, I’m here for you. No matter what, I have your back." Protecting her from my parents suddenly seemed like a no-brainer.

I’d cut ties with them if that’s what I needed to do. If they didn’t respect Arya and our relationship. I don't know why I had let my mother browbeat me before. Funny how my thoughts fell into place once I got some clarity.

I cupped Arya’s chin and gently tilted it up. Her eyes sparkled with unshed tears. I could tell she was feeling unsettled. And I couldn’t blame her. This news had no doubt been a shock to her. And our families were so intertwined but in a bad way. My family definitely had the silent upper hand.

I had so many things I wanted to tell her. I wanted to tell her how much I loved her. How my world had started to revolve around her even during this short time. How I’d felt a part of me was missing when I thought she was avoiding me.

But I decided it would be better to show her.

I met Arya’s lips in a gentle kiss that quickly deepened to needy passion. I spun her around and backed her against the wall next to the sliding glass doors, still on the balcony, the light breeze making the loose pieces of her hair dance around her face.

She tasted like the berry mocktail she’d had at dinner–no wonder she hadn’t drunk any wine. Her lips were sweet and swollen. Slowly, I led her back into the bedroom and planted kisses on her neck and between her breasts, anywhere there was skin I could access.

“I’ve been dying to kiss you and touch you for ages,” I said. “You have no idea how hard it’s been for me to stay away from you.”

I could tell she missed me, too, by the way her body curved into mine. All softness against the hard lines of my own body.

I slipped the straps of her dress off her shoulders and she let the dress fall to the floor. As she stepped out of her dress, I looked at her gorgeous body. Her stomach was still flat, but I was excited at the thought of it being rounded out with our baby. Our baby. I couldn't believe it was real.

I snapped out of my inner dialogue as my eyes took in her beautiful lingerie. There were areas of her that required further exploration. I growled in satisfaction as I pulled her into a kiss, my hands skimming her entire body as she put her arms around my neck.
