“Then I don’t feel like too big of an asshole drinking this in front of you.” I grinned. She looked away from me, and I was sure I’d seen a bit of a blush on her cheeks as she did. It gave me a surge of confidence to see it, and I checked myself for feeling that way.

This was one damn fine woman, there was no denying that, but would it really be wise to hook up with a client? I could argue that the horse was my actual client and this woman was the one paying me, but still. I knew better than to mix business and pleasure, and I wasn’t sure that would be a good idea.

Still, I wasn’t going to deny the fact that I felt a surge run through me knowing I could make her blush, and it felt good.

But, business was business, and I had to get back to it.

“I’m going to need some time alone with the horses, just so you know,” I said. “I need time to be able to study them and interact.”

“That’s not going to happen,” she announced, and I felt my heart skip a beat. And not in a good way, either. There was just something about the way she would openly defy my direction that rubbed me the wrong way, and I reminded myself to keep it casual.

“We are very particular about the horses, and I don’t know if I feel comfortable with anyone being alone with them when it comes to training,” she said.

Damn. I had my work cut out for me with this woman, there was no denying that.

I just hoped she knew what she was getting herself into.
