He reached me fast, his arm hooking around my waist before he took the majority of my weight with ease and began swimming upward with my hint of aid.

“You think I want you dead?”

Well…ya?

He glanced at me for a second with an annoyed look but proceeded to keep swimming.

“I envy you, Bleu, but wouldn’t wish to seek you perish. At least, if it wasn’t by my hands.”

Isn’t that sweet in a fucked up way?

“You’re heavy.”

Now I’m just insulted. Was that some sort of Dusk fish?

“Maybe.”He didn’t sound sure.“We’re clearly under attack. When we reach the surface, we need to regroup with Azu. Can you handle that?”

Yes.

“Good. Azu first and then we’ll regroup with everyone else.”

Seemed like a good plan.

Piercing the surface encouraged us to take deep breaths before Xeno had me float on my back so it was easy for him to backstroke us to the tiled platform of a pool. It took me a moment to realize it was one of the training pools, and it made me feel a bit of concern because that meant we were a good five minutes from the training room I’d been with Mercury.

Helping me out, he quickly pulled himself out before he tripped out of the white layered cloth he was wearing, leaving him in just black shirts.

And showing the various scars all over his body.

The sight was such a shock, that all I could do was stare at him in surprise. He clearly noticed, his eyes briefly locking onto me before he huffed and looked away.

“Don’t try to be nice to me just because you have a glimpse of the suffering I’ve endured in this fucked up world,” he hissed before he cursed. “I can’t get a hold of anyone.”

“Meaning you can’t reach Asher or Azu?” I inquired and tried to reach Asher through our connection but even that was blocked. I couldn’t even sense his emotions.

“Mhmm. Someone intentionally blocked all pathways of communication.” he huffed. “You can’t feel your wolf still?”

“No.” I shook my head and even tried to call for Phyx and Juniper, but nothing.

“This has to be Zed’s doing,” Xenon hissed. “But why? What is he after to attack so abruptly? Something had to have to change to trigger him. Maybe…but what?”

He was talking to himself but he looked down at me before something seemed to click.

“Fuck…” he cursed as his eyes went so wide, I swear it felt like something was behind me. I quickly looked around, trying to figure out what was wrong, but we were the only ones there.

“Xeno? What did you figure out?” I dared to ask, but he quickly cursed again before looking around. “I need to get you back to Asher.”

“Why?”

“I’ll explain after,” he huffed and quickly came to my side before crouching down. “Get on.”

“On what?”

“My back, stupid!”

“First off, I’m a very intelligent individual who was just minding her own business eating granola bars and conversating when you—”

“Okay! I get it! Just get on my back! I can’t shift either but I can infuse my body with my wolf traits, so I’ll be able to get us to the others faster than on foot.”
