“Fucking hell, it’s Zed. One of those douches who want one ruler of all the supernatural shifters. What a hypocrite!”

Kenzo was pissed.

“He wanted to get me stuck in the Syndicate but my brothers ended up showing up and helped me get out of the jam with Asher’s assistance. I got super mad…well, honestly, I was murderous, Kenzo. I legit cut Asher’s neck. I hope it heals just fine, but I really was close to killing him thinking he’d betrayed me. If it wasn’t for giving him a chance to prove to me he was on my side and briefly bringing me to the Shadow Realm, I wouldn’t know this world truly existed. That it carried so many Shadowborns and that I have a direct connection to its existence.”

“I know it’s just shadows, starry skies, and a few structures and forests, but it’s really peaceful here,” Kenzo acknowledged. “The Shadowborns here look happy. At a sense of peace, but I believe your arrival has shifted something in them.”

“Really?”

“That’s how I feel,” he admitted. I won’t know for sure until I really observe everything here, but if you want my honest opinion, Bleu, this world could become as grand as Faerie.”

“Do you really think so?”

“I don’t think. I know you can create something magical. Faerie was built from one individual’s vision for a world where we could embrace our culture of richness, rank, various powers, and their connections with the seasons. Faerie obviously has its downfalls and dark sides, but it’s a world of sunshine, flowers, and wildlife. I think this realm can be the same and for an aesthetic that empowers Shadowborns, regardless if they’re full Shadowborn or a hybrid,” he envisioned. “I really think you can make a place our kind can call home and return to when the shifter and human worlds get too harsh on us. Plus, having the founders on the High Court matched with bringing Azu and Mercury who are Fae to the table, it’ll become harder for people to regret the idea of Shadowborns having their own place to call home.”

“They’re the ones who don’t want us to cease to exist,” I muttered. “They shouldn’t have anything to say about us leaving.”

“Well, I’m not sure about that,” Kenzo grinned maliciously as he winked. “They’ll begin to realize how many of us run things above and carry control like the Fae.”

“What do you mean?” I inquired. “Don’t the Fae run 60% of the world?”

“Correct,” he smirked in pride. “However, Shadowborns run a huge chunk.”

“Wait, really?” I gasped. “How much?”

I could already see the glimmers of amusement in his eyes as he leaned in to whisper the answer.

“35%”

“35%?!” I hissed and gawked. “The humans only hold 5% of control over the world?”

“Actually no,” he commented. “4% is for the mix of shifters remaining, which means, the humans only run 1% of universal affairs across shifters and humans.”

I was speechless.

“Like…do they know that?”

Kenzo simply answered that with an even bigger grin.

“Oh, man. We need to catch up tomorrow! Bright and early.”

“You and I both can agree, that’s impossible,” he voiced as if he knew something I didn’t.

“Why is it impossible?”

“You’re getting married!” he emphasized.

“Yes?”

“So you’re going to fuck tonight aren’t you?”

“Oh shit! I forgot!” I gasped and then was shaking Kenzo by the shoulders. “KENZO! I didn’t bring any nice lingerie?! Why did this dawn on me now?”

“Need help in that department?” he offered and I was hugging him. “You fucking Fae of a Saint! I LOVE YOU!”

He burst out in laughter as he hugged me back.

“If you love me for simple lingerie, I wonder if you still want your gift.”
