“Daddy, please,” Claire cried, reaching for him. “Please, don’t leave me.”

Vince ignored her plea and ran back the way he’d been brought, trying to remember his way through the maze so he could get to Dino. They hadn’t been separated long, so he knew he hadn’t gotten too far, otherwise, he would have found his own way to the lab.

Vince found himself in the room where they’d parted ways. He looked to the right, the hallway where Dino had walked down. There were rows of doors, countless numbers of them. Vince sighed, knowing he was going to have to search each one for his friend.

A loud giggle came from somewhere nearby. It was a familiar sound. He walked through the hallway, trying to figure out where it had come from.

Another giggle, louder this time, was followed by a deep, throaty chuckle.

“Oh, yes,” Dino’s voice moaned. “Oh, yes. I love it when you lick me there.”

Vince wanted to bury his face in his hands. He rushed down the hallway and located the correct door. Behind it, he could hear Dino’s groans of pleasure. For a moment, he wondered if he should even open the door. Who knew what awful things he might witness if he did.

Closing his eyes, he put his hand on the handle and yanked it down.

The door swung open and Vince kept his eyes shut. All he could hear were the sounds of skin against skin, tongues licking, and saliva swapping. Gentle, erotic moans filled his ears. Then the smell hit him. The smell of sweat and cum and pussy.

He opened his eyes to see Dino surrounded by naked women. They were peeling off his clothes and licking every inch of skin they could get to. The room was completely empty, aside from a large bed in the middle. Everything was painted white except for the large mirror on the back wall. Vince instantly recognized it as two-way glass.

A sick feeling settled in his gut. The more he found out about this place, the more he hated it. He and Dino needed to leave, right now.

Dino was grinning from ear-to-ear, his hands roaming the women’s bodies as he fondled them and fingered them.

“Dino,” Vince barked. “We’re leaving.”

Dino’s head shot toward Vince’s voice and his grin vanished. “Already?”

“Some help you are,” Vince said, crossing the room angrily. He grabbed Dino’s arm and yanked him to his feet, sending the women flying into one another.

Dino looked down at them and reached his meaty hands out for them. “Please, no,” Dino begged. “Just five more minutes.”

Vince didn’t want to hear any more. He dragged Dino away from the naked sluts, kicking and screaming. “We have to leave. The cops are coming.”

Chapter thirty-five

Not all men

Allmenareshit.

That was the only phrase rattling around Paige’s mind. It was all she could think about. It consumed her, pulling her out of reality and into the depths of her own consciousness. Not that it was a bad thing.

Paige felt every smack, every hit, every kick. Her body was curled up into a ball as the barrage of abuse burned every inch of her body. The tangy, metallic taste of blood filled her mouth. All of the bones in her body ached. She could feel every piece of bruised flesh, the stinging and burning sensations threatening to take control of her.

With her arms clasped at the nape of her neck and her elbows clamped together in front of her face, Paige could barely see anything aside from a sliver of light. Airless grunts came out of her mouth with every hit that landed on her small, delicate body. It was bad enough to listen to. She clamped her eyes shut as the man continued to kick her, slam his fists into her ribs, shattering them on impact.

She didn’t know how long she’d been curled up on the floor. To her, it felt like a lifetime.

Paige’s body started to go numb. First it was the tips of her toes that went. It was like they’d vanished, simply turned to ghosts in her shoes. Then it was her shins, her thighs, her hips, her stomach. Every piece of her had turned to smoke, to vapor, to nothing beneath her clothes. All of the muscles in her body began to weaken. She didn’t want her arms to fall away from her head, but they did. She’d lost control of them. They fell away from her face, ceasing to protect her head.

Paige rolled onto her back, her eyes staring up at the ceiling. Her vision blurred and darkened at the edges as she traced the spiral shapes of the plaster above. She could no longer feel the kicks, nor could she hear the screams and shouts.

All men are shit. That was the only thing she could understand now.

Vince had thrown her away as quickly as he’d picked her up. He’d promised to keep her safe, to make sure that she was looked after, but he’d turned his back on her almost instantly. As soon as she became inconvenient, he dropped her. Dumped her back at her apartment and left her to fend for herself.

It hadn’t taken long for her to sink back into old habits. The drugs called out to her, like the devil in the dark of night, and before she knew it, she was getting high to pass the lonely days and empty nights. It had been all too easy.

Not long after, Robert came looking for her. Clearly, word had gotten around that Paige had come home. After all, he’d paid good money for her. She was his and she’d had the audacity to up and leave him without warning. This was her punishment. This is what she deserved.
