“Nix, I have to go…” She made a feeble attempt to shove me away but ended up pulling me closer. “God, Nix…”

My hand found its way between our bodies, and I pressed two fingers inside her.

“Again?” she breathed, still flushed and breathless from her last two orgasms.

“I can’t get enough of you, B.” My lips crashed down on hers, swallowing her whimpers and moans. She arched into my touch, riding my hand, her body knowing exactly what to do, even if she was still too shy to ask for it.

I gently collared her throat, licking and nipping at her mouth, teasing her into submission.

“You don’t play fair,” she moaned. “Jessa won’t be home yet, right?”

“Relax, she’s out for the evening.”

“Thank… God.” It came out breathy as I dragged my thumb over her clit. “Celeste is going to be here any second.”

“Then she’ll have to wait.” I worked my fingers and thumb together just how I knew she liked it. Until she was clutching my arm begging me for more. “Come for me, B.” I kissed her. “I want to see you fly.”

Hooking my fingers, I rubbed that spot deep inside her and her legs trembled around me.

“God, Nix… God…” She came quietly, pressing herself into me and riding the intense waves I felt moving through her.

When she finally opened her eyes, I grinned. “I’m hungry.” I brought my fingers to my mouth and sucked them clean, tasting her. “It’s a shame you have to leave so early, or I could have eaten you for dessert.”

Harleigh narrowed her eyes, but I saw the laughter there. “It’s a good thing I love you.” She leaned over and gave me one last kiss before climbing out of bed and pulling on her clothes. “See you tomorrow, okay?”

“It’s been almost two weeks, you know. You’re going to have to make a decision eventually.”

Pick me, I wanted to say. Choose me.

“I know.” She smiled, her eyes twinkling.

Something had changed. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but Harleigh was different.

“Text me later. I love you.”

“Love you,” I murmured, and she threw me a parting look that said, ‘Poor baby.’

But for as much as I wanted it to be her choice, I also wanted her to put me out of my misery.

The week went surprisingly fast. I settled back into classes, helping Jessa out in the evenings I didn’t have work at Buster’s. Harleigh came by most nights afterwards, and we all hung out, watching old movies and binging on Jessa’s cookies. It was nice. It was everything I’d never had.

A safe family home.

But still, Harleigh hadn’t made any decisions and I was starting to get impatient.

“Remind me why we have to do this again?” Zane grumbled as we finished getting ready. If Coach wanted me there tonight, there was no way I was letting Zane and Kye get out of it.

“Team spirit, Z. You scrub up pretty good.” The black jeans and black shirt gave him an edge. Even if he had rolled his sleeves up and left his top button undone. I, on the other hand, had gone all out in a magenta shirt, black jeans, and a black skinny tie. It was Jessa’s doing and I hadn’t wanted to ruin her fun. Besides, I looked damn good.

“Shit, is that the time?” I said, checking my cell. “We need to go.” Because the sooner we made an appearance at Homecoming, the sooner we could head to the real party at Miller’s house.

He’d invited us all over to celebrate his birthday. It was the perfect excuse to leave Homecoming. Besides, Harleigh was going to be there.

“Oh my.” Jessa stood the second we entered the living room. “Don’t you all look handsome.”

“Don’t think I’ve ever been called handsome before,” Kye said, tugging at the collar on his crisp white shirt.

“Line up for me, I want to get some photos.”
