Sebastian wrinkles his nose. “We’re the Kings.”

“He’s Elvis. Elvis Presley,” Tyler prompts.

Sebastian lifts his palms.

“Don’t tell me you’ve never heard of Elvis.” Beck crosses to my brother, grabbing his face in gleeful disbelief. “King of rock and roll. Redefined midcentury popular music.”

“The Beatles redefined popular music.” Sebastian belatedly shoves Beck’s hands away.

“Unbelievable.” Beck rounds on me. “Where did you keep him?”

“Boarding school. Blame my parents.”

“Preppy, how sheltered were you? Dear God, tell me you’re not a virgin. Sorry, Father Elvis.”

Sebastian snorts as he touches the fake roses adorning the back of a pew. “Just because I haven’t slept with half the world like you?”

“You should try it sometime. Might find half the world is made up of pretty cool people.”

My brother shoves past him to meet Tyler at the other end of the room, and Beck cocks his head at me. “What’d I say?”

It must be hard for my brother. Aside from me and Raegan, I don’t know who he’s confided in. His sexuality isn’t public knowledge. But since the affair with one of his teammates ended badly—at least from Sebastian’s vantage point—he’s been adamant about not only keeping the number of people who know to a handful, but acting as if he’s never been interested in men at all.

Wedding Elvis sets his files on the lectern in front of the altar. “We have options. Traditional ceremony or modern. I'm an ordained minister. I can bring Jesus into this room.”

Beck points to the roof. “Would’ve thought you’d need a skylight for that.”

“What about music?” Tyler asks.

“We have the best organist on the Strip.” He checks his watch. “Lois doesn’t get here until after lunch, but she’s been doing this gig for fifty years. She’s got the wedding march down. I promise the little lady will love it.” He squints at his forms. “What’s her name again? Raymond? Ah, I see. Wonderfully progressive! Which of you gents is Raymond?”

My lip curls.

We’re not getting married here.

I might be looking to move forward rapidly, but by God, I have standards.

“Thank you for your time. Give Lois our best.” I smile tightly and turn for the door.

Beck’s laughter echoes behind me.
