“Don’t.” I wrap my arms around his neck. “I can take it.”

He groans, and I can practically hear his restraint. Then he snakes both his arms underneath my shoulders, gripping them and holding me in place. “You’re ready?”

“Yes, Blaze. Yes.”

He pulls out, pausing for a moment, before slamming into me. I cry out, suddenly understanding why he grabbed my shoulders. He does it again, keeping a firm hold on me so I don’t slide across the bed.

“Tell me if I’m hurting you,” he grunts, picking up his pace.

I can barely respond, holding on as he finds a new rhythm, this one hard and fast. His thrusts are unrelenting, and his fingers dig into my skin like he wants to leave bruises.

“My god, Brooke.”

He adjusts his hips, fucking me from a new angle that has me screaming his name. When he lets out a strangled sound, somehow slamming into me even harder, I realize he’s close—and that I am too.

My head feels almost foggy as electricity zaps through my veins. I clench around him, and he shudders, burying his face in the crook of my neck. He groans, and between his unyielding thrusts and the sound of him so close to coming undone, pleasure explodes through my body.

My back arches, as much as it can with his body pressing into mine, as my eyes slide closed. My orgasm rips through me, and I cry out his name.

And then he’s coming, filling me as he finishes. I open my eyes to see his face, but it’s hidden, still buried in my neck. He moans into my skin before collapsing on top of me.

“Blaze,” I wheeze. He’s so heavy.

He rolls off me, flopping onto his back. I miss him immediately, but before the thought has even registered fully, he’s pulling me on top of him.

Our mouths crash together in a sloppy, desperate kiss. I have no idea what he’s thinking right now, but I thread my fingers through his hair, trying to prove to myself that this is real. That we actually just had sex.

“I’m just letting you know,” he says when I pull away, “now that I know what it feels like to have you come around my cock, I don’t think I’ll be able to function without doing it at least once a day.”

I snort.

“I’m not joking.” He kisses my forehead, grabbing some of my hair and tugging gently. “It felt fucking amazing. And the way you sounded? Fuck, Daisy. I’m not letting you go. Ever. I can’t.”

I relax into him, smiling. I don’t want you to. “I love you.”

“I love you, too, Brooke. And I don’t think I’ll ever be able to stop.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

BLAZE

BROOKE MOVES BACK into the master bedroom. I don’t get to sleep with her often since I spend most hours awake, but I don’t care. She’s been happier since I painted the living room and we reclaimed her bedroom together.

That’s all I wanted. For her to get closer to being herself again.

Thankfully, Felix was able to prove that the photo incriminating Alex was a fake, and the charges were dropped. On top of that, Felix broke into David’s house with the help of his maid. But they turned up nothing. Which means that he’s not operating out of his house.

Smart, honestly. He’d be a fool if he kept incriminating evidence that close to him.

It’s frustrating, though—especially since we’ve had men following him carefully, only for him to follow a simple, boring routine. Wherever he and his men are operating out of, they’re keeping it well hidden.

That’s why we’re meeting today at Alex’s mansion, to try to regroup and figure out a different strategy. I left Brooke in the living room, promising to try to make it quick. Not that she cares. Right now, she’s just upset that I won’t let her sit in on the meeting. I could feel her glaring daggers at my back as I made my way to Alex’s office.

“I suggest taking a more direct approach,” Alex says. He’s pacing, more agitated than usual. My guess is that it has something to do with the fact that Sophia broke up with him after he killed Tristan.

No one has heard from her since. She made it very clear she needs space. I’m not sure how much longer Alex will give it to her, though. It’s been almost two weeks.

“I agree,” says Felix, spinning around in Alex’s chair like a little kid. He’s never been able to stay still for long.
