My breath stutters, and the weight on my chest returns.“What if she gets some extra cash to put against it?”

Brad shakes his head, and I know Quinn’s dream is going down the drain with every passing second.

“So, what are the options, or are there none?” I wonder aloud, determined to save this dream of hers.

“The only option you have is to buy it outright.”

Buy it? God, that would be Quinn’s worst nightmare. The exact opposite of what she wants, yet I know this might be my only option.“Do I have enough to do that?”

Brad chuckles to himself and leans back in his chair.“Dude. Not only are you my friend, but you are also my best customer. You've been smart over the years and youve made some good investments. Well, let's be honest, I've made some good investments.”

I shake my head, loving and hating him all at once.

His face sobers, and he leans over his desk. “You have more than enough money to do this, but as your adviser, I am going to advise that you run away from this property. As much as you might have a sentimental reason for doing this, it's a mistake, and you will regret it.”

Will I? I keep thinking about Quinn and how happy she is when she's there, how many memories live between those walls, and right now, that's all I can see. Not the financial burden that might come from this deal or the fact that I might ruin my chance with the woman of my dreams.

“So, it's possible?” I reiterate, needing to hear the words one more time.

“Yes, it's possible. So, what will it be? You want to buy the pub?”

That's the question, isn't it?
