EPILOGUE

“Let me hold my niece,” Amy said, stretching out her hands.

“Here you go.” Billie handed her four-month-old daughter Jane—who she named after her late mother— to Amy, who had flown into Sydney a couple nights ago to spend the week with them. She then glanced at her baby, a chunky little thing who had inherited her reddish-brown hair, and Jack’s blue eyes. She definitely weighted even more than she looked.

“Aren’t you a cute little ankle biter?” Amy asked, then cooed at the baby, who moved her arms and legs.

“She is,” Jack said, coming up from behind them as they spent time outside in their backyard. Yes, he left his duplex behind and they bought a lovely home with enough room for a soccer and football team together! Not that she planned on adding to the family so soon.

She’d been busy as she’d joined the family business and become one of the creative managers for Downunder Adventures. Turned out all her horror movie expertise paid off and she’d come off with a lot of different tour ideas that both Jack and the board approved.

“You know, you two can go to Poppy’s wedding without her and I’ll watch her instead,” Amy said, lightly squeezing Jane’s chubby cheeks.

“I can’t. Two weeks is too long without her,” Billie said. Besides, Poppy had postponed her wedding date once already because she’d been heavily pregnant and unable to travel. She wouldn’t want to do it again.

“Fine, be that way,” Amy said, shrugging.

“If you want to help, she’s due for a nap,” Jack said, taking a swig of his beer.

Her husband kept on top of everything… he had been an excellent father and even better husband. She had no complaints. She’d gotten married in a small courthouse affair, the way she wanted, without many frills. They’d focused on the life they were building together, and she didn’t regret any bit of it.

“Say no more,” Amy said, and along with Jane in her arms, sauntered into the house, whispering sweet nothings to her.

“She almost makes me second guess my saying no to her offer,” Billie said.

Jack kissed her cheek. “You’re entitled. Besides, think about it... in one month, we’ll be going to see your family.”

“The girls would never forgive me if I don’t bring Jane for them to meet, though.”

“That’s true,” he said.

“Even Chase emailed me. He’s always liked kids,” she said. Now that her cousin had won millions of dollars in the lottery a few months prior, she couldn’t say she was surprised he still found the time to say hello and check if she’d be coming for the wedding. Chase always had a good heart—and now more than ever, plenty of women to chase it.

“See? Jane must go then.”

He embraced her, and she soaked into the warmth of his arms. Thankfully, after they came clean to his father, one interview had set the media straight, and soon, everyone lost interest. People didn’t want to read about happy couples as much as the latest trainwrecks.

So his father had stepped away completely from Downunder Adventures, that now was more successful than it had ever been. Yes, everything fell into place, didn’t it?

“What’s on your mind?” he whispered.

“Oh, just how much I love you,” she said.

“Want to know what’s on my mind?” he asked, and she detected desire lacing his sexy voice.

She could guess what was on his mind, but she circled her arms around his head, wanting to hear it anyway. “What could it possibly be?”

He cocked his head in the direction of the pool house. “I say we go to make a good use of those twenty minutes that it will take Amy to put her to sleep,” he said, and before she replied, he swept her off her feet and hooked his arms around her knees, then carried her in the direction of the pool house.

She chuckled, heat spreading through her, and that familiar sensation of unfiltered joy claimed her from top to bottom. “Show me what you got, Pool Boy.”

He kissed her. A passionate, teasing, toe curling entanglement of mouths that shot her heartrate. She loved this man, and he loved her—and he showed it to her, every day. And no one would ever take that love away from them…
