“Has Cece seen them?” I asked before I caught myself.

She wouldn’t. Girl’s blind. By the look of Irish’s pubes, she was lucky she was.

“Are you blind, Eejit? Nobody else is here. You need a good kick in the arse.”

I didn’t have time to figure out what Irish was saying. I often let his attitude slide because I didn’t understand the biker. Damn foreigner. Without another word, I left.

Checking the clubhouse, I went straight to the bar and asked Paisley in a rush of words, “You seen that new nurse Penelope or my wife?”

“No, I ain’t seen hide nor hair of them. Not since your girl passed out. Notice she’s the wife now. You two make up? How’s she, by the way? How's the baby?”

“That's what I'm trying to find out.”

Thinking the worst, I called the guardhouse asking Cricket if he'd seen either of them.

“Yeah, Penelope left out of here. Didn't see anybody with her though.”

Fuck.

I called her.

The nurse answered but didn’t get out a hello.

“Where's Sky?”

“I'm with her at the ER.”

Fear settled in the pit of my stomach.

“Fuck, why didn't you tell me?”

“Sky didn't want you to know. She said you two split.”

“She’s still my wife. Where are you?”

She gave me the name of the ER. And I headed out without Leviathan, without anybody with me. Parking my motorcycle in front of the ER, I recognized Penelope's rust bucket. I found the redhead in the waiting room, but I didn't stop to talk to her. I went straight to the nurse’s station.

“I need to see my wife. Sky.”

“Sir, we've been told about you. You need to leave or we're going to call security.”

“You're going to call security? I need to know if my wife and her baby are alright. You're going to let me see her,” I warned them.

Penelope stood up. “Kingpin, Sky doesn't want to see you.”

One of the nurses shouted out. “Get that biker out of here.”

Penelope said, “See? She doesn't wanna see you. They're not going to let you see her.”

“I'll wait out here,” I said to the nurses at the window, but I planned to sneak back next time the door opened.

“Call security,” they said to one another.

In the next minute I had a security guard walking towards me, fucking mall cop. I knew the man. I knew everybody around here that worked security. They all wanted to become Royal Bastards.

“Kingpin, you gonna have to leave.”

I read his name tag. “Josh, I'd like to see you try to throw me out.”
