I didn’t trust any deal from him, but he was right about one thing. We didn’t have much time. Levi and I were sitting ducks in their clubhouse. If the rest of the Gods descended on us here, as they likely would, we’d be dead.

No question.

“Your deal? That’s awful generous of you Killer, but I think you’re worth more than that,” I said in a sarcastic tone.

“Yes, I’m an important man.”

“It’d be easy to kill you. There’s time. Who’d take over then? Who’s your VP now?”

He didn’t answer. He didn’t need to. I only wanted him to think about how fucking with us, he’d be practically giving his position to his underling. If he was anything like me, he picked someone he didn’t want to succeed him. Made fighting to stay alive all the easier.

“If we let you go, my boys walk and you won’t mess with any of my Royal Bastards again, or their families, especially Eve.” I didn’t want to even mention Sky in case he’d been bluffing. “After all, we’re all the way over in Tennessee,” I said, reminding him we ran him out of the state.

“It’s a deal,” Killer said in a rush.

I felt the hard tip of a gun on the back of my head before her high voice sounded. “Let go of my Prez, you fuckin’ Bastard.”

My ears burst at the gunshot that immediately followed. As my grip on Killer only grew, the biker bitch flopped on the floor behind me.

Her screams meant she lived. But Leviathan had shot her, saving me. I had no choice but to put a bullet in Killer. But I wouldn’t risk Eve and Sky, or heaven forbid, Levi’s daughters by killing him. I’d promised Levi we’d get back at the Gods another way. A smarter way. Killing one man wouldn’t satisfy my Enforcer anyhow. Their whole club needed to suffer.

They would, in time.

“Fuck, Killer. Your bitch just tried to kill me.”

“Wild one, she is,” he laughed. “Better than your Enforcer any day. She doesn’t ask permission.”

Little did he know, I had my hands full with Levi wanting to reign vengeance down on his club. The monstrous man was upon us, ready to rip the old man in two. I held my hand up to stop him. The big guy cracked his neck and stood back.

I didn’t have time to explain to Killer why a man twice my size and three times as scary obeyed me, his leader. The Asphalt Gods MC weren’t just ruthless, they were reckless. That was something I swore Nashville’s Royal Bastards wouldn’t be. Never again. Not since Levi’s sister was murdered by them, under my watch.

“Deals a deal, we let you go, and you don’t mess with our women. But here’s a little something to remind you who you’re dealing with.”

Taking my pistol from his head, I stepped back. I aimed down. Shooting him in the back of the leg, I watched him crumble to the ground.

We left the two flailing in a pool of blood.

Just out of the door, Hallow mounted his hog. Biker hadn’t been alarmed by the gunshots. On a mission to find his wife to be, he ignored us. Brother would’ve left us for dead.

“Where you headed?” I shouted as he revved his engine.

“Place is clean. We’re riding on to pay Eve’s family a visit.”

“Good idea. You do that,” I said.

I still called the shots.

Leviathan decided, “We’ll meet you back in Tennessee.”

My Enforcer was right. We’d just shot the Gods’ President and worse, a woman biker. We needed to get to the border.

When Hallow and the others rode off, Leviathan stressed, “There’s still time to kill him. But you made a deal.”

“You think I want a massacre? I want revenge as much as you do, but.”

“I doubt that,” he cut me off.

“I know you don’t care about Eve, or Sky. Ain’t there any one you care about losing? Three someones at least?”
