The man who was about to come in me in the next instant wasn’t Beau at all. He was Bubba, Beau’s twin. I studied his face closer as his mouth hung open above me. He didn’t have the scar on his chin like Beau did. Fuck. I should’ve known. Nevertheless, we were too far gone. Bubba didn’t stop his movements, and I let go and let him thrust his hips, getting ready to climax myself. I clutched his neck as I moved under him, helping my orgasm along. Bubba’s lips engulfed mine, and since I’d come too far, I kissed him back as I got off good.

Sipping away and out of me, Bubba collapsed in the grass.

Once the aftershocks subsided, I was livid. “Bubba? I thought you were Beau?” I sat up. “Where’s Beau?” I demanded.

“You thought I was my brother,” he laughed out. “Maddie, I had no idea. I never said I was Beau.”

I got to my feet and stomped the ground beside him. “Yes, you did. I looked Beau up and called the number.” I started for my clothes.

Bubba followed me around the pool. “My stage name is Beau Strick. I’m currently the only one going by Beau Strick.”

Finding my dress, I put it on, knowing my bra and panties were floating in his pool. “What happened to Beau?” I asked, fearing the worst. That he’d died or something.

“That’s a kin to classified information. He doesn’t go by Beau anymore.” Bubba started dressing too.

“What are you talking about? Is he like in a witness protection program or something?” I slipped on my heels, knowing I needed to get out of there.

“If only. Beau uses a different name now. He runs with an outlaw biker gang. One percenters. You know what that means?”

“Criminals.”

“Yeah. You need to stay far away from him if you know what’s good for you. He’s not a good guy, Maddie Mae.”

“I can’t believe you… let me sleep with you. I thought you were Beau.” Anger turned to tears. I stumbled through his big house crying until I found my way outside. I searched for my car and found his help wasn’t gone.

“Do you live here?” I asked him.

“Yes, ma’am.”

Bubba had lied. His man brought my car to me while Beau talked for the woman he’d said was his cook. I didn’t know what to believe anymore.

I drove home in a daze. Sky greeted me at the door where she waited for Leo to pick her up.

“Mom, what’s wrong?” Sky could tell I’d been crying. She’d seen it enough in her life.

“I went to go see that country singer.”

“Alone. Mom, that’s not smart.”

“It’s Tennessee, not Los Angeles,” I said to explain myself. “Beau wasn’t my Beau Strick.”

“You were catfished?”

“Apparently, my Beau is some mean biker now.”

“Who was this Beau?”

“Beau had a twin brother. Has one. He uses Beau’s name now as his stage name. I didn’t know before things got too far.”

“You slept with him?”

I grabbed a handful of Kleenexes off the entryway table to dry my face. My mom had put them out before she passed. I started crying even harder. “Sky, you don’t know what it’s like.”

“Yeah, mom. I don’t know what it’s like to have a heart broken. Yeah, Corey left you, but he’d never even thought of me as a daughter. Thanks.”

Sky had been through a lot and she never let you forget it. “I didn’t mean it like that, baby. And I know your boyfriend meant the world to you. Beau meant that to me once. Your stepdad meant that to me once too.”

“Luke didn’t leave me. He died, mom.” Sky stormed out.
