"Yes." She holds up the appropriate finger, ready to accept the ring. "After my divorce is finalized, of course. That happens in less than seven weeks. Can you wait?"

"To marry you, yes." I slip the ring onto her finger. "To make love to you, no."

"Get up so I can kiss you senseless."

I surge to my feet and pull her into my arms. "I missed you."

"And I missed you so much. Can't believe I took so long to come here."

"Thought you were going to kiss me."

She throws her arms around my neck and crushes her mouth to mine.Bod an Donais, I've dreamed of this moment for two weeks, to have Calli in my arms, kissing me. I let myself relish the softness of her lips, the way she plunges her tongue between my lips the second I give in and open for her. She explores me with long, lazy strokes of her tongue like she wants to relish the taste of me after all this time apart. I lash my tongue around hers, molding my lips to her mouth.

Though we break the kiss, my lips graze hers when I speak. "I love you, Calli. Would've waited forever, but I had no doubt it wouldn't take that long."

Calli combs her fingers through my hair. "We are meant for each other. No other man on earth could understand me like you do."

"Stopped thinking we don't know each other well enough, eh?"

"The letter changed everything. You have a real way with words."

"I wasn't sure you'd like what I wrote. Never said flowery things like that before."

"What you wrote made me cry." She trails her fingertips down my cheek. "In a sad way at first, but later in a good way. I read the letter again on the plane. You amaze me, Mr. MacTaggart."

"You amaze me too, Mrs. MacTaggart."

She raises her brows. "Getting a little ahead of yourself, aren't you?"

"Always. Impulsive, remember?"

She laughs, then kisses me and touches me like she means to never let go. I hadn't written those words in the letter to impress her. It had all been true. I will love her for the rest of my life and whatever comes after that, until all the stars have died and there's nothing left except the two of us.

I glance around, lips compressed and eyes narrowed, while I search for the right spot.

"What is it?" she asks.

"Looking for the closest place where I can strip you naked."

"Outside?"

"Not making love to you in my brother's house, when he's home with his wife and bairn." I catch sight of the perfect spot and smile with satisfaction, then I sweep her up into my arms. "Found it."

I carry her toward a small grove of apple trees laden with ripe, red fruit and set her down on the grass beneath the largest tree, in the umbrella of its shadow.

Gazing up at the blue sky, I settle in beside her. "Growing apples in the Highlands is a difficult task. Almost takes a miracle to keep them growing and bearing fruit. Must be good luck to make love under the fertile bows of a Scottish apple tree."

"Are you implying this is a magic fertility tree?"

"Maybe it is." I dig a condom packet out of my pocket, holding it up. "I've been carrying this around so I'd be ready whenever you turned up. Should we use it?"

"What exactly are you asking me?"

I lay a hand over her lower belly. "Would ye like to start trying for a bairn today?"

A sexy smile curls her lips, and she snatches the condom packet from my fingers, tossing it aside. "Does that answer your question?"

I chuckle. "Well enough, aye."
