It wasn’t untilStone had me in his condo that rage really started to take over. What kind of heartless monster got off on humiliating two women? I certainly didn’t need a second look at the girl who was warming his bed right now, and she didn’t need the drama of some girl she probably didn’t even know existed.

“Let me go!” I screamed again, only this time, I used all the power my lungs were capable of. “You fucking asshole! Let me go!”

Stonewas hauling me across the living room, my arms and legs still fighting for freedom, when Lennox Wilde came running out of the hallway, dressed only in a pair of dark blue pajama pants. “What in the fuck is going on?!” he yelled.

“Help me, Lennox!” I demanded. While Lennox and I weren’t actually friends, we were friendly and have had a class or two together before. “Tell him to let me go!”

“Shut the fuck up!” Stone snarled loudly.

“Put me down, you bastard!” I fired back.

“Christ, what are you guys doing?” Lennox snapped, looking stunned and confused, and that’s when the pretty brunette came out from the hallway.

Myentire body stopped struggling as I watched her come up behind Lennox, place her chin up against his left bicep, then curl her fingers around the back of the waistband of his pants.

She was here with Lennox.

“Is everything okay?” she asked quietly, and I felt like the biggest fool on the planet.

“It’s okay, babe,” Lennox answered. “Go back to bed. I’ll be there in a sec.”

“It’s okay, Len,” Stone said from behind me. “I got this.”

I quicklyshook my head. “Tell him to let me go, Lennox,” I practically begged. I still wanted out of here. More so, now that I’ve made a huge fool out of myself.

“Stone-”

“I said, I got this, Len,” Stone repeated.

“If she doesn’t want to be here-”

“She’s the one who knocked on our door, Lennox,” he said. “If she didn’t want to be here, she never should have showed up and snuck into the building. I sure as fuck didn’t buzz her in. Did you?”

And the humiliation just kept getting worse.

Before Lennox could say anything more-or save me-Stone was hauling me towards a second hallway that I hadn’t noticed until now.

“Put me down,” I snapped. “I can walk.”

“Not on your fucking life,” he growled.

Stone didn’t put me down until we entered his bedroom-or what I presumed was his bedroom-and my humiliation and anxiety got worse as I heard the distinct sound of the door locking shut.

Stepping away from him, I stood in the middle of the room, not bothering to look around. Nothing mattered but getting the hell out of this room. Out of this condo. Out of this fucking building.

“Let me go, Stone,” I repeated.

His back straightened, and he looked like a cat toying with a mouse. A pathetic mouse who thought she stood a chance. “Aren’t you here for answers?” he mocked.

My chin went up a notch. “Now that I think about it, I can get them from Alexander.”

It was the wrong thing to say.

Stonehad me slammed up against the wall, his hand wrapped around my throat, and that fire in his eyes earlier was nothing compared to the flames that danced inside them now.

Stone was fuming.

Only, I had no ideawhy.
