"Yet, I arrived and faced a man who still held enough love for his mother to shed a tear for my return. I’m able to give advice and comfort, even though some would say I lost that right the moment I abandoned you for my own issues with mourning. You were forced to grow up and did what you needed to so that you and your brother wouldn’t become punching bags to those who wished to wipe out your father’s legacy. No one can dare judge you for that. I certainly will not.”

“Mother…”

“You’re a good man, Dimitris. An even better Alpha. One day, the title of Coven Leader will be bestowed upon you. That’s a very long time from now, but your actions here and now are what’s going to determine whether imbeciles dare to walk over what’s yours or if your enemies tremble at the idea of walking in the same city as you.”

She lightly patted my cheeks before she took two steps back to face me with seriousness.

“Everyone is awaiting what moves the Forbidden Pack are going to make next. Recovery is obvious, but those who are threatened by your woman’s existence won’t stop unless you force them. Whether that’s through conflict or not is up to you, but it’s becoming very clear that many fear your pack’s domination of one of the wealthiest states in America.”

"Does Willow’s royalty status not matter to them?”

“Oh, it matters,” Mother emphasized. “Yet, she hasn’t publicly claimed her throne yet, has she?”

“The fashion show,” I muttered.

“Is still on,” she revealed, which surprised me.

“Tomorrow?”

“No,” she answered and grinned. “New Year’s Eve.”

“Of course it is,” I huffed. “What a grand way to enter the new year.”

“It wouldn’t be shifter fashion if we’re not making a grand entrance on a sacred holiday,” she commented with a bittersweet smile. “I’m sure Ruby Phoenix will keep in contact and deliver the updated invitations with the new date.”

“You know Ruby?” I questioned.

“Lovely woman. Dangerous like a flick of a flame about to fall upon a stream of fresh gasoline. She has a bit of Elphaba in her, but she takes her cunning side from her father, clearly.”

“Is Willow more like her mother?” I was simply curious.

“Very,” Mother confessed and further leaned in to whisper, “Did you know she seduced Roberto as a man first just to grind his gears?”

All I could do was gawk at the reveal, which made Mother laugh in glee.

“I’ll save the storytelling for another day!” she exclaimed and spun away. “Do what needs to be done, Dimitris. Again, you have our support.”

“Mother…wait,” I whispered, which made her stop from departing.

“Yes?”

I hesitated to continue, but a side-glimpse at Willow gave me the courage to ask what was on my mind.

“When…will I see you again?”

When will I be able to introduce you to my love?

She looked over her shoulder, her eyes glimmering with happiness.

"I’ll proudly be among the invited for the runway show,” she revealed and looked away. "I hope you do introduce me to William. I’ve seen plenty of pictures from social media to know how serious you are with one another.”

I coughed on my own saliva, and the woman laughed at my obvious suffering.

“Mother!”

“Protect what’s yours, son,” she practically sang in delight as she began to disappear through a portal that emerged in a blink. “Until then, be safe for me.”

With those words, she was gone, and Klaus was back with a bow.

“Any orders before I depart, sir?”

I let out a sigh and ruffled my hair with my hands.

"Tell the Coven there are six days left.”

“Yes, sir,” Klaus replied but paused in his departure to ask, “Six days of what, Sir Moore?”

I grinned and spun away.

“Six days of Rapture.”
