“Get ready to begin. Everything will be fast after this.”

“Do you know how much time we have left in the mundane world?” Dimitris asked.

“It’s already the 30th there,” Milo revealed. “So we need to hurry.”

“Let’s get started,” Neo stressed. “Arthur, do what you can.”

“I’ll aim to surpass your expectations,” he declared like he’d just entered some sort of challenge. “Hold on, Sweet Domino. All this suffering has a purpose.”

All I could do was hope he was right as my mind slipped into the hold of darkness.

Time passed and words were said, but I felt like I was floating now before I opened my eyes quickly to confirm I was in a pitch-black room.

Lifting my head I confirmed the restraints that kept me captive, and I could already feel the dread rushing through me as I expected what was going to happen. My little hands and body only made me realize I was in the room for “therapy”.

The place where I was tortured again and again.

“Don’t panic, Willow.”

I already had tears pooling in my eyes as I glanced over to see that Aura was right next to me. She was in the same predicament, her wrists restrained just like mine, but her expression didn’t show an ounce of fear as she stared into my glassy spheres.

“One last time.” She whispered the words with so much hope as those lime eyes twinkled like rhinestones. “I promised you, didn’t I? That I’d get you out of this. No matter what.”

“No matter what,” I repeated the words as my tears spilled down my cheeks. “But…I don’t want to lose you, Aura. It's not fair to you. Or even Aurelia. She thinks she’s alone but she has you.”

“It’s only temporary, Willow,” she assured me. “This time, you won’t forget me.”

“I won’t?”

“Nope.” Oddly enough, it felt like she was holding my hand, even though it was clear we were both restrained to our metal tables. “You’ll remember me and get to save Aurelia. We just have to do our parts, and that means enduring this one last time.”

“One last time,” I repeated as if it was a mantra. “I can do that.”

“I know you can.”

“Then we’ll be together?” I asked in wonder. “You. Me. Aurelia. Onyx. Papa Dearest. Everyone important to me?”

“Mhmm,” she assured me. “Everyone you hold dear will be safe from the evil woman. No more pain like this.”

“Okay.” It was something I could look forward to. “I can do it.”

The words triggered the opening of the door, and all I could do was brace for what was next as heels clicked against the cement floor. The door slammed shut, making me flinch at the booming sound, but I reminded myself that this was the last time I’d deal with this.

One more session of pain.

The clink of the heels grew louder and closer, and I froze when the long nail grazed my cheek just as a hooded figure peered down at me from above. My eyes locked onto those orbs of green, watching the gleeful smile that formed on those pale pink lips as she peered at me in delight.

“Are you going to be a good prodigy for me, Willow?” she asked, and I slowly nodded my head and dared to further encourage her.

“I’m going to be good. I’ll endure all the therapy.”

“Everything?” she practically sang and I bobbed my head with haste.

“Everything. I promise,” I vowed in hopes of getting her approval. “I want to make you happy. To…make you proud. If…if I do well, will you make me strong?”

She laughed and pulled away, forcing me to turn my head to look at her directly as she clapped her hands like there was something to applaud.

“Strong is an understatement, my dear. You, Willow, are going to be the daughter I should have always had. A powerful woman with the capabilities of a witch, a fae, and a wolf. You’ll be able to bend the realms of time itself and rise to the chair just like I planned.”
