“You’re right.” Milo didn’t sound bothered. “At least, not yet.”

Loki broke the kiss to smirk while I blushed at where this conversation was going.

“That confidence of yours is going to get you killed, I swear,” Loki complained, but his smile was full of approval. “Would you actually participate in a foursome?”

Milo shrugged. “If it pleases our princess.”

“Our, huh?” Loki was simply teasing the fae prince at this point. “So you’re smitten and ready to stay long-term.”

I ended up looking over at him as he pouted and briefly met my gaze. He didn’t look hesitant at the idea of being with me in a romantic sense, but there was something hidden there that intrigued me enough to say something.

“What are you worried about?” I asked and managed to sit back on my knees. I did feel a bit better but wasn’t sure if I had the strength to stand and walk just yet.

“If I commit to you,” he began as those golden orbs bored into mine. His seriousness was as clear as day, but there was far more there.

Far more hidden emotions that yearned to be confronted with honesty.

“There’ll be no turning back,” he voiced the truth.

“It’s too late for that, isn’t it?” I acknowledged with a softened gaze. “Or else you wouldn’t have come here while the world is enacting a scene from the depths of hell.”

Hints of worry began to fade away from the lines of his face as he conjured up a smile.

“You can read me like an open book, Princess,” he voiced. “You’re right, and maybe that’s going to be a problem down the line.”

“Well, if commitment is going to be an issue, we can tackle it now,” I offered.

“Commitment is the least of our problems, Princess,” Milo noted and leaned in close so his lips were mere inches from my ear. “I have no problem committing to you. It’s no different than committing to an Alpha who’s proven themselves worthy of being followed by those beneath them.”

His tongue lightly moved along the side of my ear, the touch and movement deliberately slow in hopes of igniting shivers to run up my spine in anticipation.

Fae. They’re sinfully dangerous beings.

“Then?” I sounded breathless as I realized what an odd predicament I was in: my body was in the hold of Saint’s demon while Loki was on my right and Milo pressed against me from my left side.

If the world wasn’t burning and Saint wasn’t being set up for conflict, things would get heated—and that was not a reference to the scorching temperature of our surroundings.

“If anyone dares to pull a stunt like this again, I’ll ignite far worst than what the Dark Lord has laid upon NYC today,” he quietly vowed, his eyes never leaving mine. “By committing to you, I’m inviting you into my world of the fae, and when one publicly challenges someone we love without acknowledging the consequences, it's a mere invitation.”

He paused as his other hand moved until it wrapped lightly around my jaw. He forced my head to turn farther back and proceeded to lightly brush his lips against mine. Instead of how warm Loki’s lips were, Milo’s were frigid cold.

“An invitation for a war that I’ll ensure is won. Will you be able to handle such a consequence if it arises?”

“Well, the place I call home is currently up in flames,” I offered with a smug smirk as my eyes darkened with mischief. “War is just the icing on the cake, right?”

“Psychotic. Every single one of you weak beings,”Blacky scolded with a scowl that made Loki chuckle darkly.

“Yet, my instincts tell me you’re enjoying this conversation, or else you would have hurried our asses up for the sake of your master, correct?” Loki offered.

“Shut up, reaper of life! Your existence is unnecessary!”

“Ya, ya, ya,” Loki dismissed him. “Shut up and stop ruining their moment.”

That had both of us blushing before I genuinely smiled.

“After today, I don’t think there’s any way of us going back to what it once was, Milo,” I voiced. “Plus, your devotion in all aspects gives me a strong sense that you’ll love just as radiantly as you protect those you cherish.”

“Why do I get the feeling you accepted me in your heart long before this incident?” Milo muttered more to himself.
