“Awww.” Arthur beamed, and his eyes were massive. “Fighting for love! How fucking romantic! You know I recently fell in love! It’s like a day old, but the woman is my savior and brought me to my other mate! The story could become a Netflix hit!”

Felicia bit her bottom lip hard enough to actually make it bleed as she glared at the two of them. Clearly Malachite was distracting Arthur from shedding the obvious truth about who Felicia was because he’d have no choice but to keep to his word.

"But despite years of feeling like I was a broken, used puppet, look what she managed to do,” Arthur announced as he pointed to his neck which was covered in red ribbons that surely hid the bandages that were beneath. “She was able to free me. She allowed me to become someone in society that I only dreamed could be possible. They say love comes at you when you least expect it…and that it’s really scary because things move super fast!”

He paused and smiled in a way that left me staring just at his image in the projected mirror.

"Being loved by someone and falling in love is something I’d fear again and again if it means enjoying this feeling of validation in my heart,” he quietly confessed. “I hope you find that too, mister…um…”

“Malachite,” he announced. “Beta Malachite of De Luca Pack.”

“Nice to meet you!” Arthur beamed. “I like you so you can just call me Arthur.”

“Give me your card. I’ll keep in touch.”

“Sure! Let me give you my private number.”

Felicia took that as her cue to leave, and she huffed and made a stomping exit out of the room.

Arthur immediately skipped to the door and slammed it closed. With a snap of his fingers, the walls were covered in an orange barrier of magic that reminded me of summoned flames.

"Are we playing hide and seek?”

“Fuck!” I cursed into Amos’s palm as I flinched—Arthur’s quiet whisper into my right ear freaked me the fuck out.

"You’re fast,” Amos casually noted, but he didn’t seem surprised by Arthur’s random entrance.

“I like frightening people from time to time. Helps with my anxiety,” Arthur confessed, already hugging me from behind and putting his chin on my shoulder. “Sweet Domino! I was looking for you!”

“Wait! What about Malachite?!” I stressed and lugged Arthur out of the closet with me only to enter the empty room. “What the…”

“A smart knight in this game of chess,” Amos noted as he slipped his hands into his pockets and tilted his head to one side. “I underestimated him.”

“Meaning you didn’t believe he knew jack shit about what’s happening around our Willow?” Arthur summarized.

“Exactly,” Amos noted.

“Wait, Arthur. You know Amos is Auraleia?” I questioned in surprise.

“Hmm?” Arthur did his blinking thing before he lifted his chin just to nod a few times. “Ya. Of course, I know. He was kidnapped to serve the Vile Queen but outsmarted her by agreeing to be taken back to Faerie.”

“You forget to add I was like 13 or some stupid age of teenagerhood,” Amos added. "No one saw my decision coming, but it was the only way I could ensure Willow couldn’t be used for her true plans.”

“You’re correct.” Arthur bobbed his head before pouting. “Why do I feel like I’m forgetting something important?”

“You probably are, but I can’t aid you with your memory loss,” Amos acknowledged before he seemed intrigued with me enough to stare.

“What?”

“You should bring Malachite into the harem.”

The look I gave him only made Arthur squeal in glee as he hugged me even tighter.

“Do you think we can convince her if we form an alliance?”

Amos shrugged. “As long as it ends in a threesome, I don’t care.”

“Make it a foursome with the Dark Lord’s blessings and it’s on.”
