RUNWAY OF CARNAGE: PART ONE

~WILLIAM~

“Per Ruby's instructions, you’ll be going out as William first. Once you return, you can join the front row with your pack as there’ll be an intermission for the auction of artwork by the famous artist, Mr. Rodriguez. A car is also being auctioned in between so let’s estimate a thirty-to-forty-five-minute intermission. It’s a good time to socialize and make connections. After that, it’ll be the final event, and you’ll do your walk with the outfit change. Do you have any questions?”

“Nope,” I replied as I drew my attention back to the man in a pink suit. "Though, I never got your name.”

"Alejandro, sir,” he declared and bowed his head. “I’m one of the lead royal advisors. For better reference, I’m Mervyn’s equal.”

“Oh?” Now that intrigued me as my eyes took him in at a slower pace. “So you’re not a cocky asshole.”

“Sadly not,” he replied with a slight smirk. “I enjoy leaving my opinions at home unless requested.”

“Then what’s your opinion of me?” I was simply curious.

“Depends.” He looked at me carefully. “As William, you’re bold. Your exterior screams power and domination. You’re harsh around the edges and not someone you should attempt to manipulate or belittle. You have a bit of a Roberto vibe around you. I’m not sure if you like to be compared to him, but you do give off the same ruler, sophisticated vibe. However, if I were to compare the two of you, I’ll admit you are stronger and not because of your youthfulness.”

“Nice,” I commented with a pleased grin. “And as Willow?”

“Dangerous.” I didn’t expect him to answer so bluntly, which was why I locked onto his eyes of grey that seemed rather dull in comparison to his neon pink strands.

"I’m unsure whether I should feel insulted or pleased,” I voiced at his comment, to which he further grinned and took a moment to actually think about it.

"I don’t say dangerous in an offensive way, but one would be a fool to underestimate you. I think that’s what frightens many in that room full of dominant superiors,” he confessed with 100% honesty. “Your existence wasn’t taken seriously because no one really knew how powerful you could become. Sure, you followed in the footsteps of Roberto, but haven’t we all witnessed an heir following in their parent’s footsteps in hopes of claiming their privilege when they become of age?”

He did have a point, which was why I nodded in agreement at his assumed statement.

"To simply put it, you’re the underdog no one expected would burst out of its cocoon and become a rare butterfly in the wild. You have a softened elegance about yourself, but it’s underneath a layer of fierceness that bares its teeth to the world first. That tender femininity doesn’t really show unless you’re with your pack members, I’ve noticed. It’s intriguing to witness, for it can be a blessing and a curse.”

“True,” I commented because he did have a good point. I never really paid attention to what I looked like with the guys in a third-person view. Sure, there were plenty of pictures of us from the paparazzi and such, but I’d never really noticed the softened femininity this royal advisor was bringing up until now.

"Nevertheless, you're a force I think this shifter world needs. The fact that you haven’t ascended yet and have people quivering in worry only proves a lot of shifters have tried to shit on your life and are rather frightened that you’ll want payback.”

“Revenge.” I said the word like it was the cure to all my problems, and honestly, maybe it was.

I hadn’t decided yet.

"I appreciate your earnest commentary,” I concluded. “I guess I’ll ask Mother to let you be my royal advisor.”

“I’d be honored,” he admitted. “Though, I’m unsure she’d let me transfer over.”

“I’ll convince her.” That was the least of my problems. “In the meantime, you can do your regular duties.”

“I appreciate your consideration and thoughtfulness,” he replied and bowed his head. “I’ll return with the cue for you to head down the path that leads to the runway.”

“Excellent. See you shortly.”

With my dismal, I was left alone for a moment, which allowed me to focus on Bria, who was staring at me with intrigue.

What’s troubling you, Bria?

“I’m not trouble.”The depth of her voice simply reminded me that her gender switched just like mine did as William.“I’m more impatient than anxious.”

You feel the heavy sensation behind these layered curtains.

“Feel is an understatement.”He didn’t seem apprehensive. It felt more like he was impatient to show how sharp his teeth were to all those who dared to judge us at first glance.“I feel the need to flaunt our dominance and power. Many beings of power are within the audience.”

I bet. Most royals were invited from what Aura explained earlier while we were getting ready.
