“She’ll get all the rest she needs while we continued wreaking havoc through NYC,”Saint hummed happily.“Once the show is over, I’ll give her a strong sleeping pill so she can actually rest uninterrupted.”

“She’ll hate you,”Milo noted.“But she needs it or her body is going to force her to rest.”

“Indeed,”Saint stated.“See y’all soon.”

That was our cue to focus back on the present conversation we’d been having.

"I don’t need to think when it comes to Willow,” Saint disclosed as he rose and began to stretch. “When I’m in her presence, I can be who I am and not fear a hint of judgment. To be honest, I forgot that when I was in my Dark Lord form.”

“You forgot?” I repeated as I gave him a questioning look.

“Mhmm.” Saint moved one arm along his chest to stretch it out. “I feared she’d be disgusted by me. That was what the Vatican was waiting for. To witness Willow reject me for being so sinfully horrendous in my monster form. I never really thought about how she’d react to that side I hide so flawlessly when I’m in my hybrid form, but the idea of her finally seeing all my cards was frightening.”

He laughed as he stretched his opposite arm. His eyes lowered to stare down at Willow’s sleeping figure.

“It made me nervous and question everything. Fuck, I questioned my damn self and what I could be capable of. It made me feel like a different person. I lost my confidence in myself and the foundation of stability I’d built within. All at the idea of being deemed unworthy from the woman I adore the most.”

Lowering his arms, he cracked his neck a few times.

“She proved them all wrong.” Those words barely pierced the air as his eyes softened. “She reminded me that I didn’t need to change a damn thing about myself because she already loved all of me from the beginning. Willow fell in love with me and the unknowns I carried. It took me experiencing it to realize that it didn’t matter how many secrets each of us have. She loves and treasures each of us and the unique qualities we carry. Our power, strength, flaws, and hidden imperfections would never push her away, and even if we tried, I’m sure Willow would find a way to come back to us.”

A dazzling smile graced his lips as he stared back at me.

“Because Willow’s a fighter. She doesn’t give up.”

There was the ultimate answer.

Willow…my Sweet Fighter.

"So, the point I’m trying to get at is, don’t go worrying about showing affection to Willow,” Saint summarized. “Love. Affection. All that romantic shit isn’t something you really think about. Our bodies know how to show affection. How to respond to lust. How to let another know our true intentions.”

He paused to tap his left temple.

“It’s our mind that plays tricks on us. Makes us feel unworthy of such perfections. Willow’s loved you for a long ass time. Even in the beginning when we met, I could see it in her eyes. We all could. She didn’t fall in love with you because you pampered her with hugs and hand holds. She adored the passion and seriousness you put in protecting her. Admired your drive and determination to see her succeed. The fun and electrifying tension you two experience when you practice in the ring. All those qualities that dance between you coaching her and you protecting her created that founding passion that pulled her in and kept a hold around her heart.”

Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a pack of cigarettes and took one out.

“So stop using that brain of yours, Vikky. Don’t second-guess what you can bring to the table among the rest of us. We’re all different. Unique endangered hybrids that surprisingly have a slice of Willow’s heart for each of us. It may feel like you’re lacking but you’re not,” he stressed. “Between the pack loving Willow, it ain’t a race. Nor is it a competition. We’re all just trying to remind Willow that she’s a star that has to keep shining brightly, for we all rely on it to survive. In return, we all have to do our parts to not only see her reach the finish line of this ending cycle but support her as a new cycle begins.”

He took a few steps so he was right next to where I stood.

“We have all eternity to love Willow, don’t you think?” His voice carried a heaviness to its tone—reminding me that he was the Dark Lord of the underworld.

Just like how I’m a Master upon the High Council—a being like many with eternal life.

“We’ll get plenty of time to love her the way we wish and more. For now, all we have to do is support her the best way we know how so we’ll be rewarded with all the time and opportunity to love her everlastingly.”

“Being advised by you makes me feel like I’ve failed in life,” I grumbled, which made him chuckle.

“You’re welcome, Vikky.”

“Stop calling me that,” I groaned but did smile just a bit.

“I’m going for a smoke.”

“You don’t smoke,” I noted as turned my head to acknowledge him, only to realize he was already at the door.

“Normally, I don’t. However, I’m still reeling back in the dark energy that I enjoyed using to spread havoc through NYC. Most of the fires may be out, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more disaster on the way.” He sounded far too pleased with the idea of unknown tragedy. “The nicotine keeps me sane, and the act of smoking keeps me distracted. I’ll enjoy that and visit Arthur.”
