I tried to stop the tremble by crossing my arms across my chest. “There’s nothing left to tell.”

His lips curled, he gave a nod of his head, and he pushed away. He turned away from me, striding from the bedroom, leaving me behind. I hurried the moment he was gone, yanked on my clothes, and searched the bed for my phone.

My pulse sped as I found it on top of the nightstand. I shoved it into my backpack and snatched my windbreaker from the floor. Leale gave a chuff, but waited until I yanked on my boots before coming closer.

“Hey there, stranger,” I murmured, glancing toward the kitchen, and ruffled his ears. “I missed you.”

“He missed you, too,” Finley spoke from the doorway.

I flinched, jerking my gaze to his, and straightened.

“And he wasn’t the only one,” Finley continued, and lifted a glass to his lips.

Pain filled his words. I made my way toward him. “Finley.”

“Save it, Anna.” He swung his gaze to mine. “Unless you plan on telling me the truth?”

I stopped in front of him. The heat of our passion had turned into something else now. Somethingunsatisfied. He wasn’t going to leave this alone, not even after sex. “Just let me go, Finley,” I pleaded.

He leaned closer, the heat of his body electric. “Not even if you begged me to. I warned you, Anna. You belong to me.”

I swallowed hard, the throb of torment pulsing in my chest and between my thighs. I left him there, standing in the doorway to his bedroom, and made my way to the elevator. Everything was changed now. My father. The contact.Me.

The bright lights of the elevator were too much. I closed my eyes, opening them as it came to a stop. The guard said nothing as I made my way through the foyer and out into the windy, stormy night. The driving wind battered me as I made my way along the path. I glanced over my shoulder, finding Fin standing at the window, watching me.

I hurried back to my apartment, tears stinging my eyes as I swiped the card across the reader and the foyer doors opened. The guard jerked his gaze toward me and rose from the seat in the foyer.

“I don’t want to hear it,” I muttered, lifting my hand. “I just want to go to bed.”

It was well after one AM when I made my way quietly through the apartment and into my bedroom once more. I dropped my backpack into my closet, dragged off my jeans, top, and bra, and crawled into bed. But sleep didn’t find me. Not for a long time, not until I'd replayed what happened in Finley’s bed over and over and over.

“Are you awake?”

I cracked open my eyes to the bright glare of sunlight and tried to focus.

“Jesus, are you sick or something?” Kat wondered, and came closer.

She blurred and swayed, even after I closed my eyes. “Go away, Kat.”

“You look like hell.”

I felt like it. I felt like I’d been chewed up and spat back out. A moan tore free as the corner of the bed dipped and in an instant, another moan slipped through my mind. Only this was a memory…of what happened last night.I jerked my eyes open and shoved up.

“Whoa, okay, settle down,” Kat jolted from the movement, almost spilling her coffee. “It’s like after nine and you haven’t even moved. I thought you might be dead.”

I swallowed hard, my heart thundering as I glanced at the backpack sitting in the closet doorway. I didn’t need to reach between my thighs to know it was all real.Every. Single. Moment.

“I need a shower,” I mumbled, and eyed her coffee. “And one of those, give.” I held out my hand.

She just looked at me warily and handed it over. “What’s gotten into you?”

Finley Salvatore, that’s what.

I shoved the words aside and lifted the cup to my lips, taking a long swallow before handing it back. But it did little to quell the storm inside my head. I shoved the covers aside, moaned at the ache between my thighs, and stumbled into my bathroom.

I didn’t even care that Kat was there. All I saw in my head was Finley’s commanding gaze as I left his apartment.
