“Is she?”

I don’t say anything as I straighten myself. It’s too embarrassing that a big guy like me is being stalked by a girl as little as Millie. I don’t even know what I did to get her to do this to me. I never told her I liked her. We fucked a few times years ago, and yet she’s held onto that all this time. I used to think she preferred Seth over me, yet I don’t hear her stalking him at all.

“Hunter?”

I clench my jaw, biting back the words.

“You don’t have to be embarrassed. You can tell me.”

I find myself nodding. I can feel the tears burning, fighting to get through. “Yeah,” I whisper. “She’s been stalking me. I thought she was done, but she found me again.”

“How long?”

I shrug. “I think a year. Maybe less. It could be more. I don’t really know what to do.”

“Hunter, you should listen to me. Start a file. Every time something happens, go to the police. Once that file gets big enough, you can get a restraining order. You don’t want this affecting your family.”

“I know,” I say with a nod.

“I promise you will never have to worry about Millie in this shop. You hear me?” Bob shakes my shoulder.

“I hear you,” I say.

Bob gives me a curt nod and I watch him walk slowly back to his office. “You should probably wipe down the shelves. They look a bit dusty.”

I blink away my tears and go to grab a rag, happy to have something to take my mind off Millie, even happier to know I have a boss who is willing to stick up for me.
