“You’re Raine, right?”

Raine turned and he immediately recognized this larger than life man in front of him. He put his hand out. “You’re Trey Stone.”

Trey nodded and shook his hand. “Nice to officially meet you.”

Raine pulled back, feeling a bit nervous. “You, too.”

Trey gave him a once over and then leaned in. “Listen, bud, I have heard about you. I’ve heard you are a good guy making a new start in South Port, but I have to tell you that Lucy and Matt, well, they’ll end up together.”

Trey was an ex-SEAL, and though he didn’t wear it around like a badge of honor, it was hard to miss from the commanding way Trey spoke.

“That’s what I hear,” Raine agreed, trying to be nonchalant, but feeling a bit ticked off.

Trey grinned at him. “Marshall said you’re a good guy, but Matt’s a good guy, too.”

What could Raine say to that? “I hear that, too.”

Trey laughed. “I bet you do.”

“Sup, Raine,” Marshall said, moving to Trey’s side and putting his hand out.

Raine shook his hand. “I just got to meet your brother, nice guy.”

Trey laughed, again and turned to Marshall. “Hey, I like him.”

Marshall grinned. “Me, too. How’s the bike.”

“Super smooth.”

“I know, right?” Marshall asked.

“Who’s this?” A guy with an eye patch moved to Trey’s side.

“Yeah, who is this?” Another guy moved to and another guy with a dopey smile moved to Trey’s other side.

The one with the eye patch had crossed his arms and looked him up and down. “Wait, you’re Raine Birch. You’re going with Lucy to the wedding?”

“I am.” He tried to give all the Stone men a confident nod. “And I know Matt is your friend and I know Lucy and Matt will end up together.” He nodded to Trey. “He just told me.”

“Well, good. I’m Hunter,” said the one with the eye patch, shaking his hand and grinning at him. “Seems like you got the lay of the land you need to know about, then.”

Raine felt himself relax. “Yep.”

“I’m Trent,” the other man said. “And just so you know, I came back from the dead a couple months ago.”

Raine had been reading up on the Stone family and the treasure. Since the night he’d seen that treasure map on Lucy’s wall, he’d done a thorough investigation. “Oh right. That’s pretty impressive.”

Trent snorted. “You have no idea.”

Marshall shook his head. “See Trent, you’re a bragger. No one likes it when a guy comes back from the dead and brags about it. That’s what we were just trying to tell you.”

“I’m not bragging,” Trent argued. “I’m just telling him in case he didn’t know.”

“It was bragging,” Hunter nodded.

“Yeah, it was.” Trey agreed.

Raine was finding this conversation quite amusing.
