I knew that I sounded tentative, uncommitted, and I was.
But I wouldn’t examine that now.
Instead, I gave my father a hug and kiss.
“I’m heading out,” I said.
“Todd’s on the way,” he countered.
“Some other time,” I said with a half smile.
As I got into the car and drove away, some part of me knew that time would never come.
