I gazed into her sea goddess eyes. They were playful and serious at the same time.

“And you,” I murmured, tracing the side of her cheek tenderly. “You are the only woman I have ever loved.”

I watched as her eyes grew darker before she looked down. I gently placed my fingers under her chin and tilted it so she would meet my gaze.

“How do you feel about all this?” I asked her. My heart was thumping so hard in my chest I thought it would jump out of my ribcage.

“I don’t really want to rate it right now,” she answered softly. “I’ve been through so much in the past few days and I don’t exactly trust myself after that emotional rollercoaster I’ve been on. I don’t even understand why we’re doing what we’re doing.”

“Oh.” I felt my world start to crumble at her words but I offered her a weak smile instead.

What she said was true—she had just emerged from a relationship that hurt her terribly. She hadn’t had enough time to grieve properly over what it had ultimately cost her before we jumped into…whatever it was that we had now.

And while I was able to process all my emotions a bit more clearly, I knew that Amanda was still seeing things through a filter of pain.

She pressed her finger to my lips and gazed up at me coyly. “Let’s not talk about it right now,” she said. “For today, I want to live like this is the last day of my life. I want to squeeze every drop of happiness I can from it. I don’t want to worry about tomorrow.”

I nipped at her finger. “Then, we’ll do it your way.”

She smiled up at me. “For starters, I’m really hungry.”

Her words ignited something deep within me. “What are you hungry for?”

“Pancakes!”

I looked at her bright grin and grabbed her ass, pressing her to my arousal. “You can’t just touch me like that and leave me like this.”

She idly traced my chest with her fingertips, sending frissons of pleasure skittering in the wake of her touch. “But I’m hungry…”

“Then I’ll probably have to save my lust for you for later,” I grinned at her and sighed. She smiled back at me and we cuddled up for a few more moments before we stumbled out of bed and into the adjoined bathroom, sharing a few more kisses along the way as we washed up. Amanda handed me a new toothbrush I could use.

“Grandma might have a little trouble hearing but we wouldn’t want your morning breath to stun her,” she giggled. “And we both know that dogs have a keen sense of smell. You need to take pity on poor Buddy, too. Just kidding, of course you have no bad breath.”

“You little rascal,” I muttered, slapping her naked butt lightly, which made her squeal a little.

We stood in front of the mirror with our toothbrushes in our mouths and grinned at each other. As good as we could with them in the mouth.

After she was finished, she dashed out of the room in her robe, grabbing my clothes along the way with her.

“Hey!” I cried out in protest, chasing after her. “Give those back!”

“Oh, I don’t know,” she said, her eyes glittering mischievously. “Maybe I should just leave these out in the living room for you to find.”

“Are you trying to shock your own grandmother?” I asked her incredulously. “Leave me a bit of pride and give me my boxers at least.”

“Oh, she’d just love the sight of her ‘hot doctor’ coming down for breakfast in just his boxers,” she giggled, clutching my clothes to her chest. “She might even thank me for it.”

“Amanda,” I called out to her, a soft warning in my voice. “Give my clothes back.”

“Or what?”

“Or you won’t like what I’m going to do to you when I get ahold of you.”

Her eyes darkened in desire at the threat in my tone. “Actually,” she said, licking her lips. “I just might go ahead and do it to see what you’ll do to me.”

Before she could make a move, I pounced on her, my arms going around her like steel bands as she squealed in surprise.

“Gotcha,” I murmured hotly in her ear. “Now, why don’t you be a good girl and hand me my clothes so I can make your favorite pancakes for you.”
