“Don’t remind me!” I gasped in horror, covering my face in mortification. “I was so sick we had to go back home so I could change!”

We burst out laughing at the memory of our teenaged years. Twelve years ago, a fair had been set up in Georgetown. Elle and Sophie were rearing to go so I went with them. Everything was going along well, we had fun with a lot of games.

Until we had to get on a Ferris wheel.

Well, I wasn’t a big fan of heights and ended up getting sick all over the place, much to Elle and Sophie’s chagrin.

“On second thought,” I told him softly, looking around us. We were already at the highest point of the London Eye. “Iamfeeling a bit queasy…”

“Are you sure?” Oliver asked, worry evident in his brown eyes. “Do you need to go or something? I don’t have a bag with me—”

I watched as he panicked for a little while before I giggled. “Gotcha!”

He looked at me incredulously and I laughed. “Serves you right for bringing up my embarrassing moments!”

He leaned forward and whispered seductively in my ear, “You are going to pay for that, Amanda. Two jokes in such a short time must be punished.”

His voice sent tingles skittering down my spine and I swallowed at the threat and promise in his deep voice. I still hadn’t gotten over how he had pleasured me until I was wild with want and longing in his practice.

He smiled softly at the predicament clear on my face and leaned back on his seat with a self-satisfied smirk. He looked so pleased with himself and so…masculine.

“By the way,” he asked. “Where is Buddy?”

I smiled sheepishly at him. “I…kind of left him with your mom.”

“You left Buddy?” he repeated. “With my mom? In her crystal cave?”

I laughed at the incredulous expression on his face. “Her house actually looks very pretty. Very, uh, sparkly.”

“I could only imagine,” he chuckled, rolling his eyes. “I can’t imagine you leaving Buddy with Mom and her new boyfriend.”

“Hey, she volunteered while I was asking for your address here in London!” I grinned. “And they were both very happy to have Buddy with them. Said something about his energy balancing everything out in the house or something.”

“So, you’ve met Mom’s new boyfriend?” he grinned. “Tell me, does he really look like Channing Tatum?”

I blinked at him. “Like who?”

“You know—the lead actor inMagic Mike,” he explained. “Tall guy with closely shaved head. Dances really well.”

“Good God, no!” I burst out laughing. “Although, he does have very little in the hair department!”

“Well, that’s funny because Mom told me he’s her very own Magic Mike,” Oliver grinned, shaking his head. “I don’t even want to know what she meant by that.”

“Well, he seemed pretty magical enough…” I muttered. “He was wearing this gaudy amulet around his neck and there was this huge crystal on his ring! His belt was studded with crystals, too.”

“He seems a perfect match for Mom, then!” Oliver laughed. “Poor Buddy. I wonder if he enjoys moonstone-flavored meals. They’re probably trying to make him go vegan or something.”

We were still laughing when we got off the London Eye, talking about Mrs. Compton’s almost obsessive fascination with crystals—a passion that was shared by her new boyfriend, Mike.

“Well, at least they have something in common,” Oliver said, shaking his head.

We walked over the Westminster Bridge, joking and laughing all the while. I had almost forgotten how fun Oliver was to be with and how he seemed to find something humorous in every situation.

With Oliver, I didn’t mind walking a lot.

Plus, I got to see more of London on foot than if I had been on some sort of sightseeing bus or vehicle. London was beautiful and I was happy to made the step to come here—not just because of the city, of course.

We made our way down to the Horse Guards Parade. There was no Changing of the Guard scheduled for the day but I did get to see the famed Queen’s Guards in their bearskin hats and distinct red tunics, standing smartly on their posts with somber expressions.
