He let go of her hand to pull her into his arms completely. She landed on his lap, straddling him. His arms wound around her, holding her close. She felt the desire in his lips. In his cock, hard as a rock, pressing intimately against her.

Well, he was getting his point across without words.

That sexual tension that had been building for the longest time was about to explode like a hidden geyser just discovered.

Until Amelie squealed in delight. She wanted the show to repeat once again.

They broke apart, breathing heavily, staring at each other with the desire blazing in their eyes.

Corey reached for the controller, one hand still firmly on her back, refusing to let her move as he started the episode again.

Then he was brushing a hand down her cheek.

“I wish I could get you naked and under me. Show you how much I care about you. That me asking you to this wedding isn’t because of Amelie.” He pressed a light kiss to her lips. “I want you, Genevieve. I have for a while, and I’m finally telling you. I’m putting it out there. If you don’t want to go to the wedding with me, that’s fine. If you don’t want to start something with me, that’s fine, too. I won’t stop you from seeing Amelie. I know what she means to you.”

This was…wow. More than she could ever imagine. More than she could hope for.

But was it right? Should they dig deeper with what was between them?

“Melanie—”

He put a finger to her lips, a wave of sudden anger blazing in his eyes. “Please don’t compare you two. I’m ashamed to admit, Melanie was only a warm body to me. A means to an end. Just sex. That isn’t easy to admit. I can’t regret those moments with her, though, because I got Amelie out of them. I’ll never regret that.”

“It doesn’t feel right, Corey,” she whispered, hating to voice it but knowing it needed to be said.

“Why? Because she was your best friend?”

She nodded.

“We all make choices in life. Hard ones. Easy ones. Dumb ones.” He smiled, and oh, every time he smiled, it enhanced his sexy features. “This is the first smart choice I’ve ever made in my life.”

If she hadn’t already fallen in love with him, she would’ve in this moment.

“Okay, I’ll go to the wedding with you.”

It wasn’t a hard choice to make.

She loved him. She’d do whatever she had to do to keep him in her life. If they could make more of what was between them, then everything would be perfect.

“Eh. Not sure about that one.”

Genevieve rolled her eyes, annoyed at her brother. Why couldn’t Brock say one of the dresses she’d tried on so far would be good for the wedding? Corey would be here in an hour so she needed to pick one of them soon.

“Seriously. Why’d you come over if you weren’t going to be more helpful?”

Brock tilted his head at her and grinned. “Because.”

She rolled her eyes again. “Yeah, because. I know why and it wasn’t for me. You need to get over Rebecca. In fact,” –she snatched his phone from her nightstand and hit the passcode to unlock it— “let’s delete her number.”

He sat up where he was leaning against her headboard and moved as if he were going to lunge for her, then plopped back down. “Delete it. I’m done. I can’t take it anymore. I should just sleep with Brianna and make Rebecca’s worries true.”

Her finger hovered over Rebecca’s number. “Didn’t her boyfriend propose on Valentine’s?”

“Yeah, he did. They’re getting married next April.”

“So you can’t sleep with her because she’s with someone else.”
