“Yes, she has her moments.”

Corey looked at her, surprised she had agreed. Well, she couldn’t disagree. Her mother could act like a bitch. Pretending didn’t make it any less real.

He finally held out his hand. “It’s nice to meet you. Thank you for the ring. Most people wouldn’t give something like that up.”

She shook hands with him. Her heart started to calm and her grip on Brick loosened. She felt his audible relief that the tension between her and his brother disappeared.

“It was wrong what happened. It never was mine to begin with. It’s yours.”

“Lucky son of a bitch.” Corey laughed as he shook his head at Brick.

Brick could only chuckle as he took a seat on the stool, pulling her into his lap. She wasn’t sitting on him, but she liked being cocooned in his embrace.

She took Corey’s words as approval. What an odd night, but turning out better than she expected.

“I do have a ring for you. To replace the other one,” Brick whispered in her ear. “Give me your hand.”

She lifted her hand, gasping when he slid the ring on her finger.

The old ring had been a simple solitaire diamond. This was exquisite. A large round diamond in the center, with smaller diamonds haloing it, giving it the appearance of a flower.

“This is too…” She was breathless. Words didn’t seem enough to express how she felt.

“I hope it’s okay.”

The nerves in his tone had her twisting around, planting a searing kiss on his lips.

“It’s beyond perfect. It’s too much. I didn’t need such a beautiful ring.”

“You deserve it all. If it’s in my power, I’ll make sure you get anything you ever want.”

Another kiss erupted, making her soul sing with pleasure and her heart jump with joy.

“Geez, get a room, you two. But first, let’s celebrate.”

She twisted around in Brick’s arms again, clamping her hand over his that was wrapped around her waist. Her eyes glided across the shot glasses lined up on the bar.

“Oh, no. Not this, dude,” Brick muttered in between laughter.

“Totally this,” Corey replied.

“Someone care to explain what this is.”

“Just welcoming you to the family.” Corey winked, and Jezebelle worried she’d have a pounding headache tomorrow.

But as long as Brick was by her side, she’d endure the pain.

Dom wasbehind the bar tonight and he knew an insane amount of drinks and shots to make. Brick know he’d have a difficult time winning tonight. Although, he didn’t expect Jezebelle to play.

“It was, like, what…close to six years ago,” Brick pondered, eyeing his brother, who nodded. “We were in this dive bar in a shady part of the city and this big dude—”

“He was huge,” Corey said with his eyes round and large.

Brick snickered. “He was. Things turned tense real fast, and I’m still not sure why.”

“Because we were punk-ass guys on the wrong side of town. They didn’t like us in their territory.”
