“We are,” I told Wayne as we were about to get into the car.

And then, just for good measure, I added, “So about that privacy window...”

Thayle gasped and hid behind me. But Wayne didn’t bat an eye. I knew he wouldn’t.

“It’s there for a reason, Mr. Grado.”

“Neo,” I said. “Looking forward to our last stop.”

“Which is just up the road.” Good to know. We climbed into the limo, and then he shut the door.

“You did not ask him that,” Thayle said, sitting across from me.

Unlike Thayle, I wasn’t going to make her wait for the next cannonball to be shot across the bow. I snagged a water, leaned forward, and began to hand it to her. As she reached for it, though, I grabbed her wrist. Thayle’s breath caught.

“If a guy I liked grabbed me like that,” I quoted her, remembering her and Min’s conversation clearly, “I’d be totally okay with it.” I waited for her to catch on. “You and Min were watching a movie about male strippers at our house.”

“She thought it would be funny to tease Marco,” she said as I loosened my grip just enough to run my thumb along her wrist. “You weren’t even home for most of it.”

“As I recall, I came in,” I said, my grip loosening even more. I let my thumb continue to explore, running it lightly down to the palm of her hand. “During the last scene.”

“I didn’t know you heard that.”

As I released her wrist, I ran my fingers across hers as softly as my initial grip had been rough. Though the touch was much too brief, it was just the beginning. I handed her the water with my other hand. She took it, opened the cap and sat back. Thayle didn’t even hide the fact that she was rattled.

In a good way.

Her shoulders rose and fell, and I sat back to simply watch. Another point, Neo. Her cheeks were flushed, but I was too much of a gentleman to rub it in. Maybe I’d cheated by touching her, but the rules seemed pretty flexible at this point.

Unfortunately, my victory was short lived. As Thayle placed her water bottle in a cup holder, her slow smile told me in no uncertain terms she wasn’t waiting to respond this time. She had something up her sleeve...

Her legs uncrossed.

Ahh, fuck no.

They separated a bit more. And then the minx reached down, placed one hand on each thigh, and tugged her dress upwards. Just enough. A saint would have been tempted to look, and I was no saint. She’d done it so subtly, I had to tilt my head to see anything. When I did, I closed my eyes, unable to look at her for a second longer. As the car slowed, I may actually have groaned aloud.

If that wasn’t the hottest thing I’d ever seen in my entire fucking life, I didn’t know what was. I could go home now and have enough in the mental files to fill every day. Dear lord.

The car stopped. I opened my eyes. She was, of course, grinning from ear to ear. Her legs crossed once again.

“You were right,” she said sweetly as Wayne opened the door. “You do know me pretty well.”

I was pretty sure Wayne knew something was up as we got out of the limo. As Thayle strutted ahead, through the parking lot toward our last winery of the day, I stood still, waiting until I was able to walk. A few deep breaths and the realization that Wayne was, indeed, looking at me knowingly did the trick.

“Your itinerary says pickup at five-thirty?”

“I think they close then,” I said.

“Very good. See you soon. Enjoy.”

“Thank you, Wayne.”

Thayle, basking in the glow of her very decisive victory, was already at the front of the winery waiting for me. Thankfully, I had an ace up my sleeve.

“You want to know something interesting about this vineyard?” I asked, reaching Thayle whose smile reached her eyes.

She really was pleased with herself. With good reason.
