“Sounds great. Thanks, Wayne,” I said.

“My pleasure.”

And then he shut the door. We were all alone in a big-ass limo, Neo sitting across from me, the space between us feeling bigger than it had ever been before. I wanted to tell him why I begged off last night. That I was done being a big chicken. That if he wanted to feed me another piece of chocolate, this time I would pull his finger into my mouth and show him that I was not just Min’s friend, or his, or an employee.

I was a woman who would give him as much pleasure in one night as he’d given me throughout our lives. But not the shoulder-to-cry-on or joke-around-with kind of pleasure of our past. This would be pleasure of an entirely different sort.

Instead, I would show him. Somehow that came more easily than words.

And Wayne, unknowingly, had given me the perfect tool.

“That was so sweet of him,” I said, reaching for the basket of goodies by my seat. There was what looked like a bakery bag, the kind I’d typically have gone for immediately. But not today.

“Now that the cobwebs are all cleared out from yesterday, I’m ready to rock and roll,” I said, taking the sole banana instead. “How are you feeling?”

Neo opened the small red cooler sitting next to him and took out a water. “Good. Glad to hear you’re on the mend.”

“Yeah, just in time to hit four wineries. What the heck were Brooke and Cos thinking?” I began to peel the banana little by little.

“To talk to as many people, and discover as many new wineries, as possible, I guess. But I agree, it’s ambitious.”

Now peeled, I brought the banana to my mouth. But I didn’t bite just yet. Instead, I held it there, not taking my eyes from him.

“Well, thankfully I’m feeling more like myself and am up for the challenge.” With that double entendre warning out of the way, I closed my lips around the banana and bit down, enjoying watching Neo as he sipped his water, his eyelids ever so slightly hooded.

“Are you now?” Neo asked, his already deep voice having lowered an octave.

I didn’t answer. Instead, I put the banana back into my mouth, this time taking it slightly deeper than before. No one, literally no one, would eat a banana like this. It was no accident, and Neo knew it. His head tilted to the side, his eyes narrowed even more, as if in warning.

I didn’t heed the warning, of course.

At the risk of looking ridiculous, I took the banana as far in as possible while still being able to bite it. After I finally did, and finished chewing, I leaned forward. “Mind handing me a water?”

Neo swallowed visibly. And then opened the cooler, taking out a water, and handing it to me. His fingers brushed mine without him even pretending to be coy about it. The touch was way too brief for me.

“Thanks.”

He sat back. “You’re welcome.”

“You’re not going to eat anything?”

Neo’s eyes dropped, and not to the basket. Then he looked back at me. How he turned the tables so quickly, I had no clue. “Maybe later.”

Oh my god. The thought of him between my legs was too much. I took a swig of water and finished the banana without preamble this time as Neo leaned back, his legs spreading enough to give me a very clear message.

Two could definitely play at this game.

I didn’t hide the fact that I was now looking down at his crotch too. Then, biting my lower lip, I met his eyes once again. Score!

The car slowed. Neo and I stared at each other, neither of us saying a word.

Wayne opened the door. Neo said, “Ladies first.”

Miraculously, my legs still supported me. I somehow managed to get out of the limo without face-planting. Maybe it wasn’t the most graceful exit in the world, but from Neo’s expression when he finally got out, I knew I’d done something right.

He slammed the door shut, leaned toward me, and said, “Challenge accepted.”
