Page 111 of My Foolish Heart

Thankfully, my enticing girlfriend is wearing a sundress.

Reaching down just to be sure, I part the material of her G-string and am not surprised my finger slips inside easily.

“Mmmm,” she murmurs, which is all the encouragement I need. Unzipping my pants, there’s no need to prime myself. I’m hard, and ready.

Pressing gently on her lower back, I help position her perfectly. But we’ve done this before, just not on the middle of the deck of my restaurant. She knows how to stand to take me in, and does, as I slip inside with a groan.

Once there, nothing stops me.

Us.

Her backside bounces as I thrust, using my fingers to help bring Evie to climax quickly. A necessity since I’m not going to last very long. One innocent comment—or maybe not so innocent—was all it took.

“Please,” she begs, so I give her more. Faster. Stronger. My fingers more insistent.

“Like that?” I ask, not needing an answer.

“Oh yes. Tris, I’m going to come.”

“Do it,” I demand. And so she does, just as I also grip the railing in front of us and thrust once, twice, hard. And then every muscle in my body is tensing as I spill my seed into her. We are one, now, and always.

Seems like as good a time as any.

“Move in with me,” I whisper into her ear. “We can do this every night,” I promise. “Or I’ll move in with you,” I add quickly, knowing she might not want to give up her house. “I couldn’t care less where we live.”

I pull out, giving Evie a chance to look at me. To see that I’m being serious.

She turns, smiling. Thank goodness.

As I zip my pants, she doesn’t hesitate.

“Yes! Let’s do it. Yes,” she says, her arms going around me. I hold her, marveling that I was able to snag a woman like her. It’s my greatest achievement yet, being loved by Evie. And now we’ll be together more often, even when work pulls us apart.

“I’m sorry you had a sucky day,” she says, pulling back a bit to look at me. Smiling coyly, she confirms what I already knew. That comment was intended to provoke this very response. “I hope this made up for it a bit.”

I told Evie the day we met to take a risk on the dance floor. She told me once that the fact that I know how to dance was extremely sexy to her. And that the only thing that could top it was if I could sing too. She said it jokingly, and I didn’t respond at the time.

Something stopped me that night, but not now.

Evie just agreed to live with me, and this woman will be my wife one day. So what the hell. If I’m going to ask her to take risks, I should too.

“Someday,” I belt out from deep within my chest, fully aware my sister’s jaw would drop if she were here. She’s constantly telling me I should sing more, though I usually refuse. “When I’m awfully low.”

“Holy shit.” Evie is staring at me in shock.

“When the world is cold.”

“You sing too. Tris! Holy crap.”

I smile, enjoying her reaction, but wanting her to hear the words too.

“I will feel a glow just thinking of you.”

I kiss her on the nose and finish the refrain.

“And the way you look tonight.”
