“Come with me,” I demand, knowing he can.

With a roar more medieval than modern, he does. I lose all sense of reality for a minute as everything tenses and squeezes, and I don’t even know my own name.

“Chari.”

I almost thank him for the reminder.

Enzo pulls himself up, no need for words as we stare at each other. I know that wasn’t normal. I don’t need him to say so. Honestly, anything he says now will lessen this moment. So I put my finger to his lips, content just to revel in whatever that was together.

The perfect ending to the best date in the history of dates. I’m almost afraid to imagine what’s next, because nothing could possibly top that.

Enzo

Iwon’t wait until we’re back at the hotel.

I can’t wait. Not for this woman.

Even though we’re at the European launch for Angel, and I should absolutely not be this distracted.

“Chari,” I say. And when she turns from one of my business associates to look at me, I add, “Can I talk to you for a minute?”

My sudden desire to get her away, to myself, has nothing to do with the fact that this guy is better looking than most. Or that Chari has already hinted at her affinity for French accents. I’m not a jealous person.

Correction.

I’ve never been a jealous person before now.

“Sure,” she says. And when I nod to the back of the bar, she hops off the barstool. I try not to stare at her ass. I’m in work mode, or at least I’m trying to be. Hayden just texted to ask me how it’s going, and I’m not quite sure what to say.

Professionally?

Perfect. The English-themed pub is packed, Angel signs and press everywhere. The ball has been pushed off the proverbial European mountain, and now it just needs some time to get rolling. Tonight marks the beginning of a new chapter for us. Within a year, Angel will be in three countries.

Personally?

It’s out of control.

I don’t just want to be with Chari every second of the day—I crave her. We were apart for exactly three hours earlier, and it felt like three days. Now I can’t stop watching her, wanting to be the one she’s smiling and laughing with, even though I know it’s my job to work the room.

And Chari is just being Chari. Friendly, maybe a bit flirty because that’s her personality. She’s charming the asses off everyone, and that’s more than fine.

But I need a taste for myself. And I refuse to wait.

“What’s wrong?”

Rather than answer, I pull her out of the side door that spills into a narrow cobblestone alley. Though unseasonably warm, even though the sun has gone down, it’ll get cold quickly out here. But I don’t need that long.

“Nothing,” I assure her. As the door slams closed, I reach for her, my hand fisting her hair. Gently pulling her toward me, I make my intentions clear.

Chari’s eyes soften as she realizes what I want.

Our kiss isn’t a gentle one.

I spin her around, pressing her back against the wall of the bar. I just wanted a quick kiss, but now that I’ve had one, it’s not enough.

Part of me wants to unbutton the pale-blue shirt that’s been taunting me all night, the buttons begging for my fingers to pop them open one by one.
