Brandon took the package from me and studied it.“They’re not rechargeable or anything.”

“The entire world doesn’t run on USB.”I set the piece back with the others.

Brandon shook his head.“Important thing to remember about batteries, but you both know it already.”

I had a feeling Reese was thinking something very different than Brandon was.“What’s that?”I asked.

“They die.”

“Oh.”Reese scowled.“That’s totally not what I was thinking.”

I laughed.Called it.“You were thinking about vibrators, weren’t you?”

“Without question.”

Brandon wandered away.“And now I’m going to be thinking about vibrators too.”

“You’re welcome.”Reese blew a noisy kiss at the back of his head as she and I followed him out of the store.

“A person has to wonder—it’s me, by the way, I’m that person—if you spent so much time here back in the day, how much dressing room sex did the two of you have?”Brandon asked.

Yup, things were back to normal.“With each other, none.We weren’t dating back then.”

“Besides, dressing room sex is a pain in the ass, and not in a good way,” Reese added.

Brandon shook his head.“She said from experience.”

We wove around a group of three mothers with strollers, walking side by side.

“Have you tried on a lot of clothes in the mall?”Reese asked.

I laughed.

Brandon shook his head.“As few as possible.”

“Most of the places that sold clothes for teenagers had problems with security.”Reese paused to take in the Christmas display in front of one of the shops.“Admittance to the rooms was closely monitored, and some of them didn’t even have doors.”

She had a point, but I hadn’t completely abstained from mall sex when I was younger.“Bathrooms and storage closets tucked away down side halls were much better for getting nasty in.”

Reese snorted.“You were such a slut back then.”

“And I’m not ashamed to admit it now.”I grinned.

“Whoa.”Brandon held up a hand.“You’re serious.”

Why wouldn’t I be?“Yes?”

“And you’ve never mentioned this before.”His tone was unreadable.

“It’s a part of my past I don’t live in much.”We both had sexual partners before each other, and while we didn’t keep our history a secret, we didn’t discuss details either.“Does it matter?”

“Eh.”Brandon’s grunt was noncommittal.“It means we would’ve come to the mall a lot sooner.”

Fair point.

“Danny.”Reese grabbed my arm and spun me in a new direction.“They have a piano.”

Right at the edge of the food court, boxed in on three sides with Christmas decorations.A sign next to the baby grand listed when live performances would be over the next few weeks.
