When I open my eyes, the room is full of gold and rubies. “The bloodstone had to be right in the centre, didn’t it? My guess is, as soon as we take it, this place will start to erupt.”
“Where’s your sense of adventure?” Titan asks, laughing.
“It was lost around the time you suggested dying in a volcano.”
“Have faith that it will be worth it.” We walk calmly over to the middle of the room. “I’ll let you do the honours, Milady.”
“Thanks. I think.”
“Be bold.” He nods.
Taking a prize that only benefits us gives me an adrenaline rush. My fingers make contact with the bloodstone, and I slowly remove it from the gold bowl it’s resting on. Titan tries to balance the weight loss with a bag of pebbles, but just as I thought, the place starts to shake. “I told you,” I say, wishing I wasn’t right.
“Now’s not the time to brag. Let’s get out of here.” He kisses me before we start running. He grapples his hook on the top of the volcano and we make our exit. Hot lava shoots out of the top as we’ve made it halfway down. I use a protection spell to help us reach the ground.
“You’re insane,” I shout.
“At least you love me.”
“That I do.” We join hands as we finish the final stretch. I hand the bloodstone to Titan once we’ve reached safety. “Where are we going to make our own realm?” I ask.
He rubs the stone, making it glow under his touch. “Somewhere safer than here, but still tucked away. Will you be my queen?” he asks, revealing a beautiful black rose ring.
“Yes, of course I will.”
We travel to a peaceful secluded location and Titan casts a spell to create our land. My life might not be what everyone wants, but to me, it’s perfect. We walk hand in hand into our gothic-style castle, ready to start our lives as husband and wife.
