I wasn’t one hundred percent convinced that I wanted kids, but it was nice to know it was still an option.

Especially if Aidan really meant what he said about leaving.

I needed to know more.

The doctor chattered on for a few more minutes, but eventually she left, and I was alone with Aidan again.

“What do you mean, leave?” I hissed.

“I mean I’m done. We’re done. We’re going away. As soon as you’re recovered.”

“Going where? What about the business? The house?” Was he insane? We couldn’t just walk away.

“I discussed it with Bree and we’re putting the house up for sale. She and Enzo are with the estate agent now.”

“So quick? Don’t you want to think about this?”

He shook his head vigorously. “There’s nothing to think about. I’m not going to lose anyone else to this. I refuse.”

“But who’s going to take over?” There were shipments to be brought in. Clubs to be run. People to protect… how could we just up and leave?

“I called Marvin O’Leary in Seattle. He’s going to send someone who will support Brady as new boss. He’s already agreed.”

“Brady? But-”

“It’s settled Cait. As soon you’re better, we’re gone. Anywhere you want.”

“What about Enzo and Bree?” My head was spinning. My whole world was changing…

“They’re going to Seattle to be with Logan and Ella. I thought eventually we might join them, Lex mentioned there was a spot open at his company, but I rather liked the idea of travelling the world first.”

“Aidan…” I chuckled, disbelief making me giddy. I couldn’t believe it.

“We’re good people, Cait. We deserve a happy ending.”

I couldn’t have agreed more.

I wouldn’t argue with him any further.

It was what I’d always wanted.

Me and him, together. Safe. Forever. It was a dream come true.

He leaned in and kissed my head, but I wasn’t having that. I reached up, ignoring the pain in my hand as my line snagged, and grabbed his shirt collar, pulling him down.

I kissed him like I’d never kissed him before. I told him how fucking grateful I was for him. I told him how much I loved him.

Nothing was going to ruin this. Nothing.

EPILOGUE

One Year Later

A round of applause rippled around the congregation as the priest trickled water over baby Niamh’s head.

Bree looked up, beaming proudly as she held her baby over the font. Niamh let out a singular wail, and the crowd collectively awed.

Aidan’s arm around my waist tightened, his hands moving to cup my growing stomach.
