Dagen gave him a nasty smile. "It's not that small. Just ask your bitch there." He turned that expression on me. "That reminds me, when I was going through a bunch of security footage, I found a little something. I thought you'd like a copy." He held up his phone and tapped the screen.

A moment later mine pinged. Every single part of me said to ignore it. Everything except my stupid curiosity. The part of me that assumed he had footage of Ben and I fucking and thought that would embarrass me in some way. Or upset Jake or the other guys.

I pulled my phone out of my purse and clicked on the screen.

The moment I did it I regretted it. The vision was a little grainy but the camera had captured the moment the three goons pushed me to my knees. My eyes were wide with horror. Dagen stepped over to me. Undid his pants. From this angle, no one could tell it was him, but everything else was clear enough.

I closed the screen before I could see any more. My hand was trembling. The air became thicker. No, that was just panic rising, making it harder to breathe. My head felt light.

"You're welcome," Asshole said smoothly. "Then I figured—why not share?" He pressed his screen again.

Jake's phone pinged

Then Cooper's.

Hutton's.

Ben's.

Then all around me, phones were pinging. The sound was like something out of a horror movie.

The guys didn't move, but all around me people looked at their screens, then at me. Some looked disgusted, but one or two looked amused like they thought I got what I deserved.

"Excuse me," I muttered. I turned to shove my way through the crowds, my head down as if that would stop people from recognising me.

I heard the guys calling out after me, but I also heard Alistair Dagen's laughter. That rang in my ears louder than anything.

I hurried towards the car and fished my keys out of my purse.

Barely able to breathe, I unlocked it and slipped inside. I pulled off my heels and threw them over into the passenger side footwell.

"Going somewhere?" Hutton slipped into the passenger seat.

"Away from here." My hand was trembling so hard I could hardly get the key into the ignition. Jake might have a point about cars that start with the press of a button.

"Should you leave your bodyguards behind?" He clicked his seatbelt into place.

"You're here," I pointed out. I managed to get the key in and started the car. I backed out of the parking space faster than I probably should have.

I saw the flash of Hutton's phone screen.

"Just letting them know I'm with you and you're okay," he said. "Whatever he sent, I deleted it without looking. The other guys would have too. And everyone else, who gives a shit what they think?"

"I don't." I wound through the busy carpark and out onto the main road. "I just don't like being humiliated like that. It was bad enough it happened without everyone knowing about it."

No one who actually watched could see his face. I couldn't even point the finger at him. Even the faces of his men weren't clear. Just mine.

Rain started to sprinkle, covering the windscreen in glittering drops. I turned on the windscreen wipers.

With any luck, it would pour and Asshole would get drenched.

I wished hehadshared footage of Ben and I together. That would have been humiliating for us both, but at least it wasn't evidence I wasn't invincible. Everyone would look at me differently now. They knew I had weaknesses. They would try to exploit them.

Or they would look at me with pity in their eyes.

Panic started to rise again, but this time I let it. I couldn't have held it back if I tried. It swamped me like a flood of cold, trembling fear.

I couldn't let him break me. I wouldn’t. But he got to me with this stunt.
