STEFAN

Angela Haddon is dangerous, and every minute I’m sitting next to her is the opportunity to make another bad decision. Last night was supposed to be our first and last time, but then she wants a quickie before breakfast. Okay, so maybe she isn’t the only one that was hoping for another dip into the yum yum factory before heading home, but that doesn’t mean it should’ve happened.

She is nothing like I Imagined, but so much fucking better. I like that she has grown into her own skin and takes what she wants. It’s a major fucking turn on and that’s dangerous. Being around here is going to get me in trouble, and now I’m supposed to just go back to Dallas and act like I didn’t just fuck my dream girl? The things is I know Angela isn’t using me just for my wealth, other girls - I think that’s all they see. If I were to “settle down” with someone, genuinely speaking, my money shouldn’t be a factor. This girl has seen me through my worst times and in my best, and she still wants everything to do with me.

In this moment, I truly wish Hendrix wasn’t my best friend so I could continue this to see where it could lead, but she’s off limits and he is my best friend. After many desperate attempts to keep me away from his sisters, it did the opposite. I can laugh about it now.

One thing is troubling me though. Is she really okay with us doing this, and then me just going back to Dallas and acting like nothing ever happened? I don’t know about her, but this hasn’t gotten it out my system, but only makes me want her even more.

“So, what are your plans today?” I ask, eating the last of my bacon and picking up both plates and taking them to the kitchen. Small talk isn’t really my thing, but I don’t want to just dip out on her after that.

“Got my sister’s place in a bit, but besides that, sitting here and watching Criminal Minds and just enjoying my days off.”

I wish I could just cuddle up next to her and do the same, but I promised my parent’s I would come over and hangout with them today. So, I’ll need to leave soon.

I run the water and put a little Dawn on the sponge to watch the plates and skillets. She shouldn’t have to do dishes after I leave. I might be a little spoiled at home with my housekeeper, but it’s her day off and she should get to just relax.

My phone rings and I turn off the water and use the dish towel to dry my hands as Angela is rushing into the kitchen.

“It’s Hendrix. Do you think he knows?”

She’s just being paranoid. “Calm down.”

“Sup, bro?” I answer.

“Came over to your parent’s and they said you never came home last night. Find some local hottie to shack up with for the night?” he snickers.

“Something like that. I’ll be back at my parents in a bit. What are you up to?” I ask, gathering up my shoes and putting them on my feet. My socks are still wet, so I don’t dare put them on.

“About to be at my sister’s house. Thanks for taking her home last night, bro.”

I press the mute button. “Your brother is on his way here. How are we going to explain this?”

I tap the mute button again. “I’m already at Angela’s house. About to take her back to your parents and see if we can figure out what’s wrong with her car. You got time to help?”

I only ask this because I know he will do anything not to have to work on her car. This will keep him far away from us.

“I’m about to go see Stacy, but can call afterward to see if you guys still need help. Gotta go.”

See! It works every time. He is not someone that is up for manual labor of any kind. Especially, if it doesn’t benefit him in some way.

“See, you got this. He will never know. Plus, I don’t know shit about cars, so that’s all you,” Angela says.

“I have to get to my parent’s house actually. There are no mechanics open today, so if you need a ride or anything, call me.”

She opens the front door, and I walk to my car, inspecting the obvious damage from the storm. Some cracks on the windshield and dents on the body, but nothing too bad. It’s still drivable.

“I’m sure I’ll see you again before you head back to Dallas,” she says, waving before closing the door.

I start the engine, put it in reverse, and back out of her driveway. My parents are probably worried about me, but not enough to call me. We have a special relationship. As a kid, we didn’t see each other much, but they did what they had to do to keep me fed and a roof over our heads, so who can blame them. I’ll never hold a grudge for them working to support the family. Even more so, I understand as an adult.

My mother is getting out of her car as I arrive.

“Looks like I made it just in time to help,” I say, getting out of my car and grabbing the bags from the backseat. “No need for you to do this when you got me around.”

She just had surgery on her knees a couple months ago and even though she has been cleared, I don’t want her lift anything while I’m here.

“You are such a sweetheart,” she says, opening the front door and shuffling me inside.
