Chapter Twenty-One

Weird things have been happening. Pretty low-key, compared to the five graves dug in my garden, but still unnerving. I’m starting to feel like I’m being watched, and not just by the guys.

My spells can’t find any traces of magic in or around the house, so whoever is messing with me is doing it the good old fashioned human way. Rowan changed the locks on all the doors and windows, but somehow the fucker that’s sending me weird shit keeps getting in.

Yeah, it turns out that Linden didn’t send me anything. Every thoughtful, romantic, sexy, funny and actually sometimes creepy gift that I ever got, was from some unknown creeper. I’m betting the hole in the fence, the unlocked car doors and the graves were also calling cards from the weirdo who seems to be obsessed with me.

I've doubled the protection around the house and the shop, using spells and not just crystals this time. The whole thing has made the guys hyper-attentive. To begin with, I thought their protectiveness was to do with the bond between Ash, Oakley and I. But Rowan, and even Linden, have been just as bad. One of them is nearly always around and I’ve had to put my foot down and kick them out a couple of times, just to have a night of peace to myself. I have a sneaky suspicion that Ash slept outside my house in his truck those times though.

In a strange way, it seems to have accelerated our relationship and the bond is stronger than ever between us. There’s real feelings developing. That’s scarier to me than any attention seeking stalker.

I’m pulled out of my reverie by the guys’ heated discussion.

“I still say we should move to a safe location,” Linden insists.

“No.” I shake my head emphatically.

“Jas—” Rowan begins.

“Don’t ‘Jas’ me like I’m being unreasonable. This is my home.” Ok, so a dead cat was just left on my doorstep, but I maintain that Jasper could have killed it. And, bonus points for it being outside the house this time, not inside.

“And it’s not safe. We should get a place together with better security.” This is the last suggestion I would ever expect to hear from Linden.

“What, and all live together? Are you mad?! You can’t even have a meal together without getting at each other’s throats!”

“Look, Jas—” Rowan tries again. “We don’t know who this weirdo is, he could be really dangerous.”

“First, don’t ‘look Jas’ me either. And second, he could be a she.”

“What?!”

“This feels very much like a disgruntled ex girlfriend to me.” I shrug. I’m pretty sure it’s not, but they don’t need to know that.

“An ex girlfriend sending you dildos and lingerie?”

“Could be. I didn’t use any of it. She may have laced them with hot sauce or something.”

Four pairs of astonished eyes jump to mine. I laugh. I mean, I know it’s not a laughing matter, but what can you do?

“I think it’s a guy. It’s creepy to send underwear and sex toys to someone. Screams pervert to me,” Oakley grumbles.

“If it’s a guy who’s obsessed with me, why isn’t he targeting you guys?” I demand. “If it were me, I’d be pissed at you guys and trying to freak you out. Hence why I think it’s a girl. One of your ex girlfriends, I’d bet!”

I know I’m chatting absolute crap, and from the looks of it, the guys do too. I throw my arms up in the air and declare that I’m giving up. Linden grins like he’s won the fucking lottery, and I glare at him.

“I’m not giving in on the house thing, I’m giving up on this conversation. I have a hot date to get ready for.”

“A date? With whom?” Linden demands. I smirk at him and refuse to answer, deciding instead to skip out of the room to go get ready.

Tonight is a hot date, so I opt for a plunging, red bodycon dress and matching heels. Apparently, Rowan has big plans for us, and I think he might be taking me out of town, which I’m more than okay with. I’m looking forward to letting my hair down and just forgetting about all the drama. I take my time getting ready, knowing our reservation isn’t for another couple of hours yet. I curl my hair and enjoy playing around with my makeup. Sometimes it’s nice to make an effort, though lord knows the guys have seen me at my worst and not run away screaming.

There’s a soft knock on my bedroom door, and Oakley sticks his head around.

“Whoa.” His eyes are wide and his jaw hangs open. “Damn. I need to take you out more.”

A very girly giggle escapes my lips as my cheeks warm. “I like our dates just fine,” I tell him with a smile. I love staying in with Oakley, cooking up a storm in the kitchen and binging on Netflix shows. He’s surprisingly easygoing and laid back, and he’s sweet too. Until we get to the bedroom. There’s nothing sweet about what he does to me in there.

Speaking of, he’s currently staring at me with blazing heat in his eyes. The blush on my cheeks spreads to arousal that heats my entire body. He steps into the room and closes the door with a deafening click. Holy hell. I gulp. My eyes darken with desire for him as he stalks toward me.
