Maxi looks over at her as if she didn’t notice Susanna standing there.

“Hi. Do we know each other?” Maxi asks.

“I’m Corbin’s girlfriend.”

Maxi furrows her brow. “I thought I was your girlfriend?” she says.

“Since when?” Susanna asks.

Maxi looks at me. “What’s it been, Cor? Two, almost three weeks now?”

“Cor? You let her call you Cor? I thought you hated pet names?” Susanna asks me.

“He loves it. Don’t you, baby?”

“Yeah, I do,” I say.

“Weston is the only person who calls him Cor.”

“Not anymore. He’s my Cor now,” Maxi says smugly.

“You’ve been dating for three weeks and have pet names? That’s fucking insane,” Brooke, Susanna’s friend, snaps.

“I know. It’s crazy how fast we fell for each other. He walked into my bar all brooding sexy and I was a goner. It was love at first sight.”

Maxi lays it on thick. Weston has to turn his head to keep from laughing out loud.

“Love? You can’t possibly be in love. Corbin Tuttle has loved me since we were kids. Tell her, Corbin,” Susanna demands.

“Well, this isn’t puppy love, is it, Cor?” Maxi asks.

I look her in the eye. “Nope, this is grown-ass love.”

Susanna huffs and stomps out the door with her friends giving us the evil eye before following behind her.

“That was fun,” Maxi says. “Now, feed me. I’m starving.”

Weston tosses an arm around her neck. “Woman, I’ll buy you whatever you want. That was fucking amazing.”

I follow as he leads her to a booth.

I’d love to believe that was the end of it, but I saw the determination in Susanna’s eyes.

Maxi just threw down the gauntlet.

“Are you really getting off early?” Corbin asks.

“Yep. It’s been a slow night, so Reed told me I could take off. You want to stay with me tonight to avoid the crazy ex?” I ask.

“If you don’t mind.”

“She was the one you saw leaving the Laundromat yesterday, wasn’t she?”

“Laundromat?” Weston chimes in.

I look at him. “Yes. I took your brother to the Laundromat,” I say.
