"And then headed right over to Faylie," he reminded me.

I just chuckled. "Yeah, because her big concern was making sure that the first woman she kissed wasn't that little cunt. Not once did she say anything about you going off on that idiot. Nari never tried to call you off - and we both know she could've with a whisper of a word. Nope, she encouraged you. I think she even told you to grab her harder?"

He paused, a wistful smile touching his lips. "Yeah, she did."

"Because she loves you, Ela. And she loves me. She also loves Talin. He's her guardian, though. Me? I'm her man. You are the one who gets to be her best friend. I'm pretty sure there isn't a lot that matters more to her than that. Amerlee and Jamik aren't even above you. Tied maybe, but notaboveyou."

"But I've never fucked a man in front of her," he breathed.

"She thinks it's hot. The way I see it, tonight's going to end with you choking that boy with your dick and then her holding you down while she rides you to completion. Or something like that."

"Then who's watching me?" he asked.

I crossed the room and clasped the back of his head. "I am, Ela." I made him look up at me. "I always am. So is Talin, and so is Nari. Just like we're always watching out for her, or each other. We aren't like other pairs. I'm your guardian, but I'm hers too. So are you, and has it ever crossed your fucking mind that maybe that's why you don't want to hurt her? That lace on your dick is fucking with you the same way as the marks on Talin's back or the ones on my arm."

He huffed, but it sounded like he wanted to laugh. "I'm fucking nervous as shit, Wraythe." He reached up to squeeze my hand, then moved it away so he could find his shirt. "I don't get nervous."

"Sure you do," I said. "That first time you were with Talin? You were almost blushing. The first time we all had Nari? You paused. You wanted it, but you paused, deciding to eat her out before sticking your dick in her, and we both know why."

"Because I was nervous," he admitted, nodding.

"Do you love him?" I asked.

"I love her," he told me.

"Not what I asked." I grabbed his vest and held it out for him. "Are you in love with Talin? I mean, I love him. Not the same way, so it's probably a little easier to admit, but he's a part of the family. I fucking like the guy, Ela. He's gorgeous, and he looks so good with her. The few times I've seen the two of you together is just as good."

"But that's it!" he shot back. "We tried to keep that to ourselves. The suite is for Nari. Then you two moved in, and I'm not sure how to balance this. He's supposed to be her guardian, and you're supposed to be my best friend, not fucking her. She's my partner. Mine, Wraythe, and every other quad I know of keeps those lines intact."

"Not us."

His next words were so soft. "Yeah, but what if I mess us up?"

I flapped the vest at him, making sure he didn't stall out on dressing. "Tell me about him. About Talin, Ela. What do you think when you look at that man?"

He took the vest and began putting it on, focusing on the buttons. "His eyes are almost as hypnotic as Zeal's. That dark hair of his is always just a bit messy. Everything about him is just a bit rumpled, like he just crawled out of bed, and he's all man. He's not ashamed of who he is or what he has. It also doesn't mean shit to him. He's..."

"Yeah, now you're getting there," I mumbled.

Ela smiled. "I love his body. He's nothing but hard muscles and beautiful angles. He never holds back, not with us. He lays it all out there, giving us the chance to accept him or not, and he just trusts that we'll be ok with it. He doesn't try to push me around, but he doesn't let me push him either. He's..." His eyes dropped to the bed. "What if I do love him?"

"Then you should say something." I picked up his watch and held it out. "Nari and I keep waiting for you two to decide you're ready. For you to let us be a part of your love affair with him, but you always stop. Why?"

"Because I'm hers, and I'm not Anver," he said.

"Anver left. You never would."

"But he broke her heart, and I don't want her to ever feel that again," Ela insisted.

I nodded. "Yeah, but it's because heleft. Not because heloved. She never cared when Anver kissed you. She didn't mind when you made Osas all but love you. When you and Talin hit it off, you know what she told me? That it made her feel better. That she likes it. That she hopes you two will be as happy as you are with her and as she is with me. Love him, Ela. Love him the way you love her, because he's not going anywhere, and a fuckinggodchose him to be ours."

Without warning, he stepped into me and wrapped his arms around my neck. "I love you too, man," he breathed.

For a moment, I was too shocked to move, and then I hugged him back. "I chose you, Eladehl. I could've asked Zeal to make me her guardian, but I choseyou, and I don't regret that at all." I gripped him a little tighter. "You were my first friend, my brother, and I will never walk away from you. Not even for this. I chose you, and so will she. Over and over, no matter what, we will always choose you."

He pressed his forehead into my shoulder, and then chuckled once. "Don't make me cry."

So I rubbed his back. "What did Zeal tell you in your Choosing?"
