"We have to move. Let's go." He nods his head off into the distance, and I turn to Daniella. "Come on. This is my friend; we can trust him."

She nods, getting up to stand. I reach out, grabbing onto her hand to break out into a sprint. When I'm met with resistance, I turn around. The creepy guy with the gun to my head now has Daniella in his grip. Instead of a gun, a knife is pressed up against her throat.

"No." I cry out.

Easton whips his gun up, pointing it straight at the man's head. "Let her go." He growls.

"Ye fucking gringo." He spits at his feet. "You will not get away with this."

"Let her go, or I'll blow this bullet right through your fucking skull."

He laughs the most sadistic laugh I've ever heard, his yellow teeth shining in the night. "I take both putas, and maybe you live."

Easton is the one to laugh this time. "I have about twenty men with their guns aimed right at your head. One sign from me and that breath'll be your last. I suggest you let go of the girl, and maybe I'll let you live." Easton reaches down and grabs my hand, squeezing almost painfully. I know he would never in a million years let this man walk away if it were up to him.

The man's arrogant look finally fades, just a little. Fear trickles into his gaze as he looks around, as if looking for the guns pointed at him.

"I give you five seconds before I let my men put dozens of bullets in your head."

The man narrows his eyes, and Easton readjusts his grip on the gun.

"Five."

I look at Daniella, letting her know it's going to be okay.

"Four."

The man tightens his grip around Daniella, and I watch her eyes widen.

"Three."

I reach for Daniella's hand, wanting to grab onto it so we can run for it.

"Two."

Daniella looks at me in resignation, like she's realizing something I don't.

"One." Easton growls.

"No." I whisper.

The man drags his knife along Daniella's neck, and I'll never forget the sound of the knife digging deep into her skin, pulling through muscles and tendons. He pushes her towards us before making a run for it, closing the door behind him. I can hear his heavy footsteps rain down the stairs in loud thumps.

"Daniella!" I scream as she falls into my arms. I pull her close, folding her small body into my arms as she looks up at me. Blood spills down her neck, and she opens her mouth to speak, but it only makes the blood run faster.

"Shh. Don't speak." I cry, wiping my eyes as I rock her. "Fuck, Daniella. This wasn't supposed to happen."

She reaches up with a weak arm, wrapping his slim fingers around my hand that's wiping my face and giving it a squeeze.

"I wanted you to come home with me." I weep.

She opens her mouth to speak, letting out a choking noise. Then her gaze falls off focus, looking above my head as the clarity fades from her eyes.

She's dead.

"No! Daniella! Please!" I cry, pulling her on top of me and smearing her blood all over my body.

"Cara, we have to go." Easton pulls at me. I shake my head at him.
